Good job Venus, Cilic, and Isner.

Tiafoe vs. Berdych could be a good one tomorrow.

Clay grind not worth the trouble. But we wanted him to play just Rome and Monte Carlo. Got close but never won those.

Why does he play so many indoor tournaments after the USO then? He played in almost every tourney after the USO last year.

It doesn't make sense to me to play those, but not play one clay tourney.

It's not like he's going against Nadal every match on clay. It's an average draw, which means there's a lot of players he can beat just because he's better.

Federer is 14th in all time clay win %:

Win/Loss Index | ATP World Tour | Tennis

3rd in active players, behind Nadal and Djokovic. I'd give the edge to FED right now, given his form.

Thiem is the next closest active challenger.

Maybe that would be a toss up, since Thiem is rising, but there aren't many clay challengers outside of that.

The one thing FED has always had is that he knows how to attack players. He knows how to get them to vulnerable positions, then make them run.

If facing an average ATP player, he can still do that.

I think he is skipping clay because he has zero points to defend. Not sure if the equation has changed between him and clay/Roland Garros sponsors or anything personal like that. Or there may be just something else that we don’t know. He seemed flat against DelPo and KooKoo! Especially when he had the upper hand in both matches.

As predicted KooKoo fizzles out after barely edging Fed in the previous match. Guess he spent his load on that match. He couldn’t hold it any longer

Regd. The heated exchange between Verdasco and KooKoo: I posted this on ESPN

“This is why NextGen sucks big time. I don’t see any of them worthy of being a champ.

Shapovalov= Umpire assault

Kyrgios= Poorest behavior on court since JMac
( making JMac look like a Saint and Hewitt like a Gentleman )

Kokkinakis = unsportsmanlike behavior ( he probably thought like Kyrgios that Verdasco was washed up and beating Roger just went to his head

)

NextGen should be aptly renamed as NextHooligans.”

Or maybe he was living up to his 175th ranking......

You weren't really expecting a guy ranked 175 to win another 3 or 4 matches to guys much better than him right?

The Ljube team made him use it all.

Raonic back to normal it seems. Another great run at a Masters 1000 event

Isner has a tough draw, but every match he wins at this tourney makes it an even greater tourney.

Great matchup against Chung today. Let's see what he does.

Azarenka has won a lot of sets somewhat comfortably. Impressive.
