There has to be teams out there who could use a switch-hitting outfielder that's heating up heading into the stretch run of the season, no? Pacing to hit 20+ HR's and drive in around 90 runs. Honestly, Melky is as consistent as they come.
White Sox seem to be willing to eat a decent chunk of his 15 million dollar salary this year. Looks like it could be in a package with Holland, if a club is looking for a back-end of the rotation guy. It seems like Melky is the last real intriguing piece we have, so I don't see why we wouldn't try to move him. As we've blown everything else up.
Unfortunately, Shields has pitched his way into f'ing oblivion since coming back from injury. He was actually 2-0 with a 1.60 ERA in April. I thought we could eat some of his salary and actually get rid of him. What a god awful move that was. Gave up Fernando Tatis for the biggest gas can in the bigs.
