.294/.338/.444
13 HR's
56 RBI's

There has to be teams out there who could use a switch-hitting outfielder that's heating up heading into the stretch run of the season, no? Pacing to hit 20+ HR's and drive in around 90 runs. Honestly, Melky is as consistent as they come.

White Sox seem to be willing to eat a decent chunk of his 15 million dollar salary this year. Looks like it could be in a package with Holland, if a club is looking for a back-end of the rotation guy. It seems like Melky is the last real intriguing piece we have, so I don't see why we wouldn't try to move him. As we've blown everything else up.

Unfortunately, Shields has pitched his way into f'ing oblivion since coming back from injury. He was actually 2-0 with a 1.60 ERA in April. I thought we could eat some of his salary and actually get rid of him. What a god awful move that was. Gave up Fernando Tatis for the biggest gas can in the bigs.

Don't think it will be the Royals. They seem pretty intent with sticking with the OF they got. DH would be more what they're looking at; Matt Adams would be my target on that front.

I mean, hey... if KC wants to keep trotting out two guys with sub-.200 batting averages vs RHP, and play "let's make believe we're contenders" on a nightly basis. That's their business.

That does appear to be their business. Hey man, I don't run the team. Can only bemoan the nonsense.

The Royals apparently went off their stance of prioritizing SP's before a bat. Seems a little odd given Gordon had been hitting noticeably better in June and July.

Least stimulating trade evah.

Least they didn't give up much I guess.

Yeah, 5th and 22nd prospect. Both pitchers in A and high-A. Bigger thing is taking on Melky's 15 million that he's owed.

Also, I checked and his WAR is at 1.1, despite being much higher over the course of his career. Generally speaking, at least. He's also been our most consistent hitter for the past month. Really been getting going. He's just very consistent, and always makes contact. I think I read he's top 10 in the league in average exit velocity at like 88.9 MPH.

He could also just be taking over Moss's spot at DH.

I mean, even if it is Gordon... a 295/.336/.436 slash line, with 13 home runs is an upgrade over; .201/.294/.296 for Gordon. Plus, Melky is a switch-hitter and you guys are pretty horrific against LHP.

You're looking at bWAR. But yeah it does provide a higher floor which is important with how low the lows have been with Alex Gordon and Brandon Moss as well as Soler. I am just questioning how big of an upgrade this going to actually be. Seems more helpful at DH to me than LF if Gordon continues to hit 230 instead of 180 with GG defense like he has for the past two months.

If AJ Puckett is the 5th ranked prospect the farm is even worse than I thought.

But yeah, this definitely helps against LHP which is probably what I'd most like to see. I was kind of hoping for Matt Adams, but this will do OK.

Just going by what I read here. Says he entered the season as their #5. I also read elsewhere that he's 13, since seeing this article... so...

Royals continue to add with trade for Melky Cabrera from White Sox

He's not that good , m8. He's a #4 at best, imo. I wouldn't rank him above blargh guys like Junis and Skoglung.

Fair enough. I think this was more of a salary dump-off. I was actually hoping that we'd agree to eat some of Melky's 15 mil, and get better prospect compensation. However, I also read this time yesterday, that there was no market for Melky. So, I'm just glad we got something. Plus, this solidifies us as EASILY the worst team in baseball now. So, I think this should finish the job in netting us the #1 prospect in next summer's draft.

We have one legitimate major league player in Abreu... that's it. Our entire rotation is filled with guys who would either not make most MLB teams, or be their #5's. Our bullpen does not have a single major league save recorded between them. Matt Davidson is the only player having an above replacement season, and he's only worth a damn vs LHP. So, I guess he'd work as a platoon-mate somewhere.

This should be hilarious the rest of the way.

Yeah, I think that's what this is moreso- a salary dump. It works for the Royals since it's an upgrade at 3 spots offensively vs LHP and gives a pretty safe floor (something they didn't have) at DH and LF. Defensively he's an albatross but you can DH him more often than not and that won't be an issue vs RHP.

You keep saying this about saves, Clippard has 57 alone. Leurys and Avisail Garcia are also decent players.

The Royals got him, that could be a team to watch come October. Currently 1 of the 2 AL wildcard teams.

I forgot we had Clippard, he's a laughing stock and apparently ESPN fucked up on a graphic they showed this morning then. Okay, outside of that abomination, zero pitchers with a recorded save.

Avi is hurt... Leury is a utility player, at best. Try again.

Really dude, Leury Garcia? lol

This is the worst team the MLB has seen in a minute. No one compares. No joke, the majority of this roster is made up of borderline minor/major league players... or guys like Mike Pelferey/James Shields who should have quit a year or two ago. It's a joke, and I love it.

The White Sox make other bad teams look like contenders.
