So I just had to start this thread, I could not resist.

McNabb restructured his deal when he was traded to the Vikings, to change it to a 1 year deal for $5M.

Hey what do you know that's exactly what Alex is making! :-)

Who'd you rather have?

I think 2011 version McNabb is just slightly better than Alex, but I'd take Alex because he was able to run camp Alex (McNabb could not) so it would benefit the team, and also would take Alex because he's younger.

I had wondered what his final numbers were. I think he will be an asset to the Vikings with that contract. If McNabb was available to us, then I definitely would have taken him at that price to compete with Alex.

McNabb 2011 You have to remember was playing for the Washington Redskins. Which simply had no run game and a very porous offense line. Not that we had a great offense line. I believe it was slightly better. So this year all he actually has to do is manage the game. Adrian Peterson will be looking for a new contract. Expect him to be the workhorse of the offense this year. I believe it will be only a one-year contract. Since we drafted Christian ponder this year.

McNabb also has incentives that could make it up to 7.2 million dollars. I'm not sure what those incentives are, I just remember seeing that in the ESPN story. I guess I would have liked to see them compete for the job, as MW49ers suggested, but unfortunately the Vikings snatched him up before the Redskins cut him.

I'll take Alex. Scooby Doo still thinks he's all that and a bag of chips.

Alex Smith, and not because I think he's better, but only because I don't think McNabb is worth the drama/circus he drags along with him. It's not like we're a Donovan McNabb circa 2011 away from winning the SB.

I think McNabb is a great fit with the Vikings. Probably not so much if he came to the 9ers. There is nothing A. Smith can do at this point to warrant any more criticism. He's seen and heard it all. I think the attention will be more focused on Harbaugh and his decision to re-sign Alex and bring him back. Will or wont it work out. Out of all the options we had, bringing Alex back probably made the most sense. I really think he will step his game up under Harbaugh. Is that enough to make us a winner? We'll see.

I like McNabb. I wouldn't blame him on the circus atmosphere in the Skins locker room last year. That whole team was dysfunctional. Whether it was McNabb getting benched or the whole Albert Haynesworth episode. The train ran off the tracks in training camp for them.

I think McNabb will have a good year with the Vikings, more so than had he come to San Francisco. The Vikings are a pretty complete team where the Niners had more holes. He might be marginally better than Alex but I am fine with Alex stopgapping until Kap is ready to go.

I never liked McNabb. I'm not saying he hasn't been a pretty good QB in the past, but I never liked his game. He was frustrating to watch and threw far too many balls in the dirt. That being said, I think the guy got hosed by media and fans in Philly so I kinda want him to have a good year.
