yes, that was a painfully long "first" week.

That's possible...............having some pretty serious WSIS questions this week...........sitting Tillman for Lackey's 2 starts might come back and bite me.............along with Smoak for Craig and Pegan for Crisp.........guess we'll see.

DL - Kershaw, Iwakuma, Middlebrooks
On their way back - Fister, Machado
Expect lots of return trips back to the DL - Victorino and Zimmerman (trade for whatever you can get)

that's what I'd do... so not exactly "dropping" them, but wouldn't be getting their true value.

thank

So it's me and Tlance in the battle for first place. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be a 5-5 game and either Fuzzy or Sam is gonna be in first next week.:L

IDK, maybe the same reason I think TK makes up for last week and goes off....................I'd be happy with a 5-5 tie TBH.................that would make me 6 games over .500 going into week 3.............last year it was over for me by week 8ish.

I think Braun could out-hit Upton without any thumbs.

Week 1 Recap:

A League-

This week illustrated the possible changing of the guard taking place in the A league. The three bottom dwellers from last season each started off with nice victories while our defending champ and tournament runner-up suffered brutal defeats. Let's take a look at each game.

Tlance 9, Philabuster 1- This epic stomping of our defending champ was more about the Australia games and the early deadline than it was about a strong performance from Tlance's squad. Everything that could have gone wrong for Paul did. He missed the innings minimum by 3.1 after Feliz was optioned to AAA, Fister placed on the DL and Ventura missed a start due to rain. The hitting side was not much kinder as Reyes, Braun, Profar and Kemp all missed time because of injury. Tlance's squad finished the week with 86 more ABs as they bludgeoned Paul's injury riddled group into submission.

Reverend Jim 9, TKO 1- This game was not as lopsided as the score might indicate. Jim narrowly missed a 10-0 win as TKO only won runs by 1, but there were a number of categories that were in doubt heading into the final day. Belt, Rendon, and Wainwright were the standout performers for the good reverend, while TKO was undone by poor pitching from Hutchison, Kluber and Bailey.

Sam Sportsboy 8, Chef 2- Sam was the winner of the Mike Trout sweepstakes at then end of last year and he vowed to have a better team in 2014. So far, so good. Sam cooked the Chef on the strength of some hot hitting from Trout, Tori Hunter and Coco Crisp. A few tough no decisions from Garza, Shields and Zimmerman prevented an even bigger margin. Although the score looks one-sided, the truth is that this match-up was a couple bounces away from being 6-4.

Fuzzy 8, Kevin 2- Every single hitting category was extremely close in this one. Kevin was a couple timely hits and a Nate Jones implosion away from winning this game. A Fuzzy team powered byPaul Goldschmidt edged Kevin by 2 runs, 1 HR and .14 of OBP. Fuzzy will look for his hot pitching staff consisting of Scherzer, Cueto and Rosenthal to carry him through the next few weeks while Kevin looks for some better luck against Treff.

Big D Dude 6, Dub 4- Giancarlo Stanton's hot bat carried Big D to victories in 4 hitting cats and a tie in the fifth. A hot start from Josh Hamilton was not enough to overcome mediocre efforts from Soriano, Teixara and Headley for the Dubster. On the pitching side, every one of Dub's starters went twice, and that was enough of an edge for him to muster 3.5 pitching points and to cancel out some of D Dude's offensive success.

Treff 5, Ramtough 5- This one was pretty clear cut. Ram's high octane offense led by red hot bats Trumbo and Cargo pulled out the five category sweep, while Treff's ace heavy staff was able to match with a sweep on the pitching side. King Felix and Jose Fernandez are going to be difficult to beat.

Prospect League

Foot 7.5, Driaz 2.5- The Foot made his much anticipated baseball debut in high fashion as Chase Utley and Josh Hamilton carried the offense to 4 category wins. On the pitching side, neither staff brought their A game, but Foot's arms fared better overall and he was able to wrest away another 3.5 cats. Driaz managed wins in SBs, Ks and a tie in the saves category. The Casey Janssen injury surely did not help.

Molsan 7.5, Brock 2.5- Molsan's balanced offensive attack was able to sweep Brock's cold hitting club in all 5 offensive cats. Brock showed a little power with 9 long balls, but his team did not perform well in the other hitting cats. On the pitching side, strong outings from Wacha, Tanaka and Rosenthal helped Brock split the difference and earn 2.5 points.

OBX 7, Smitty 3- Scorching hot Cargo and Stanton helped OBX win 4.5 hitting cats. Smitty's closer heavy approach would have yielded more pitching points if his ratios had not been ruined by Corey Kluber's rotten start.

Trudem 6, AZ Sting 4- Trumbo and Belt powered AZ Sting's offense past a red hot Freddie Freeman and allowed him to win 3 hitting cats. It was a different story in the pitching cats. Zach Greinke and Chris Sale did most of the heavy lifting for Trudem's squad, allowing him to capture 4/5 pitching categories.

Redseat 5.5, JohnnyDollaz 4.5- Goldschmidt was awesome this week, but some of his teammates thought they were still in spring training. Redseat's balanced attack allowed him to take 4 hitting points, with JD's only victory owed entirely to Goldschmidt's 2 SBs. Fernandez and Cobb proved strong enough to earn 3.5 pitching points for JD, but it was not enough to erase the offensive deficit.

Micro 5, Milk 5- The battle of sick pitching staffs played out about as expected. Both offenses underwhelmed, but Micro's managed to edge out Milk 3/2. Kershaw's DL stint along with Nate Jones' unexpected struggled allowed Milk to tie things up on the strength of his superior ratios and 2 saves from Holland.

Hope you enjoyed the read and good luck to all in week 2!

Hey Paul, I think I would like TREFF's end of that last trade you offered! I couldn't tell if I was getting anybody or not as TREFF was gonna end up with Braun, you with Zimm and me, well an empty roster spot...........lol. I guess I'm not in the marked for an OF as I can't figure how to make it work. I am interested in a certain youngster you have on your IR though.
