R we punishing a Qb for missing a pass
R we punishing a Wr or Te for dropping a pass

No they do not get points they lose out on gaining points

So why is a kicker any dif
Especially when it may not be his fault ( could be the snapper the holder heck even the opponents D could go offside and his chance is taken away)

Because a missed kick is not equivalent to a dropped pass. It's a turnover. Like a fumble or pick, which we do penalize.

Everything is related. A RB needs a block. A WR needs ghe ball thrown to him. Kickers need a holder. Weather plays a factor in all aspects...not just kicking.

That's how I see it anyway.

I see your angle but still disagree. Because...
whether a field goal is made or misses, the other team is getting the ball on the next play.

I'd suggest penalizing failed 4th-down conversions since that too is a turnover.
But I'm sure Milk would be all for it, when all I'm trying to do is make a point.

As I said earlier: You are being penalized for a miss - you get a big fat ZERO.

Vote NEITHER.

Likewise, I see your angle, but disagree. There's a difference between being penalized and not being rewarded. Why should kickers get a free pass? They can't fumble and they can't throw a pick (I realize both scenarios "could" happen, but I digress).

Look, I'd be in favor of dropped passed in the end zone, but that is too fickle. A kick is a kick and a miss is a miss. I don't think I should win 102 - 100 when my kicker went 0-3 (and his 3-3, etc.).

The biggest reason why is because they don't score much as it is.
The best K scored 168 standard scoring points. That ranks him about 55th among all positions.
The average score of the best 12 kickers is 142.75 points. That ranks about 90th among all positions.
To put that in perspective, that's about 8 points per week on average for one of the 12 best kickers.
Then it goes down from there.
We start tacking on more negatives, a decent kicker may average about 6 points per week.
Pitiful.

Not arguing with you because I really don't care much, but:

Of the top 48 at the position, What was the average WR score?

How about the top 36 RBs?

Top 12 TEs?

I am guessing it won't be much higher than 8 in standard leagues, if not lower for some like TE.

Sorry I missed this. Not even a consideration for me. Kicker fucks up, kicker loses points. Kicker does well, kicker gains points.

Top 48 WR averaged 138 points.
Top 36 RB averaged 134.4 points.

Forgot to add...
If (with the negative points) the K do average about 6 points a week, now we're talking about a ranking of about 200.
Which means that there will be injured players on our bench averaging more points than (what is supposed to be) the best 12 kickers.

Joe I went back and looked at the top 20 K from last year. Using the point system we have in place they Averaged 8.63 points a game. And in the 320 games they were involved in there was a total of 53 missed kicks or 1 every 6 games.
