How do you know? He had multiple vet players defending him.
Did you watch any Pats games this year and see his demeanor all season long? As someone said, he was way in over his head.
Also, several players on D regressed during his tenure. He lost the team early on in the season.

Why did he have so many veterans on the team defending him?

Mkay. I don't even disagree with his firing if yall are getting vrabel. I'm just saying, firing a rookie coach who had a rookie QB starting after one year is kinda a raw deal.

whoever is your GM, should have been the 1st man fired.
You guys hit on Maye (top 5 pick) & shit the bed everywhere else this year.
Dont know if Mayo was gonna be a good HC or not, but I know he didnt have a chance this year.

Well, Maye is not your everyday rookie. He shows a lot of promise and ended up ranked 4th in accuracy. Even with him, the team consistently showed lack of discipline and will to win. That’s on the coaches.

You see, that is the issue. We were looking at a losing season any way you slice it, but the team was really pathetic this year. Zero discipline and leadership. I’m willing to bet Mayo would still be around if he had showed even a glimpse of that, he did not.

It took an hour after blowing the first pick in the draft and showing that Joe Milton III should have been the quarterback from day 1.
Mayo tried a very soft approach that the veterans liked but didn't understand. They liked it so much that they couldn't discipline themselves and when he kept throwing Van Pelt under the bus instead of calling his players in for a private talk, they knew that they could do anything and not be punished. Now comes the shock treatment. 53 roster players and 16 Practice Squad as well as 23 IR. 92 guys who's paychecks on Thursday will be their last for the 2024 season and most likely, 60 of them will never get another New England Patriots paycheck again.

If Vrabel is the HC, this house will be swept clean and he'll bring in a completely new staff. I don't expect that Elliot Wolfe will ever get the GM title because he'll be looking for work somewhere else.

Because he looked good in a glorified exhibition game? My guess is blowing the pick was not the expectation from above.
