Now, now, it's possible he's just talking reckless shit to everybody and picking fights with the fans. Those are some "character issues" I could deal with.

I'm sure there is another side to the story, but what happened to him actually doesn't sound like the worst thing in the world.

Thanks. Read the entire article and it explains a lot. Doesn't make Matteau look like the only bad guy anymore.

Granted it is being told by the one guy who would benefit th.
e most from a positive spin other then SM.

You don't expect his dad to come out and say he should've got kicked off the team

Right but we only really heard one side of the story before. Lets see what else develops after this.
His father didn't agree with his son's actions and at the same time, he didn't think a team should kick a player out for venting frustrations during a playoff game.

Plus he retaliated after being speared. I know you have to keep your temper best you can and not take retaliation penalties, but after being speared?

At this point, its best we take his side in all this and hope he becomes a solid player for the Devils. Right now, not giving up that pick is looking like a mistake.

Yea who knows. My guess is he said something personally insulting or maybe he threatened to spear the coach after the game?
I rather that be the case then him just quitting which was the first report we all got.

Nobody knows how good he will be, but this is a guy who potentially can replace a guy like Clarkson and hopefully be better. Clarkson used to be a nobody. Matteau and him seem to share the same qualities and temper, although Matteau is a better skater.

This guy will have to soften the blow of losing Clarkson. Like I've said before, if we lose Clarkson I'll be ok with it because I think 2 years down the road Matteau will be better. Give me the 21 year old power forward over the 31 year old power forward any day of the week.

Sure, it's his dad, but I'm still glad that something from the Matteau side came to the front.

We were hearing rumors about the penalty and the coach just completely shitting on JR. I get that they want him to set an example, but if you're coaching 18 y/o players in the heat of the playoffs, I feel like there are better ways this could have been done. Releasing a player for arguing with a coach? That's kind of nuts.
