Obviously if he does he wont be getting the 5 he is getting now. However seeing how the wheels fell off in Tampa do you risk it here?

Is anyone else a little worried how we are handling the Goalie situation?

I'm a little worried about goaltending but if Marty wants to play again it damn well better be in Jersey... Cuz I would hate to see him play even 1 game with anybody else even if he isn't anywhere close to what he was

He said in that CBC interview that he would never even consider playing somewhere else unless the Devils told him they didn't want him. He's not going to get $5M. His impact on this team will really come down to how he plays out the second half. His stats can be a bit misleading, as the team had several blowouts happen through that course of the season, especially early, that he was in net for. I think he'll prob get something like $3m as a legacy type contract, NOT because his play merits that.

But where would that leave us with goal? Realistically moose saved the season early on with stellar play. but this would be the year that a rookie should be on the bench getting games. The devils keep putting that off and off. How is it possible that going into next year we can have a situation where we can have 2 goalies who haven't played any nhl games? This being if marty amd moose both retire?

If we can eek out one more season with the current goalies, we're much, much better off. There are pretty much ZERO goalies or worth this upcoming off season, and teams with young, potentially good goalies will know that.

Josh Harding is the only guy on the list of UFAs this season that's intriguing.

NEXT YEAR THOUGH:

Backstrom
Lehtonen
Quick
Howard
Smith

All those are better options than what's currently available to us this off season.
