Hey guys, was that hit legal?
(sarcasm)
they showed him laughing ten minutes after it happened and the player already got up...
clearly he was laughing at the kid being hurt.
Don't be a homer..........he was laying on the ground while they were showing Martin laughing and reenacting the hit on the sideline.
I love Martin and I love the Huskers, but he was proud of the hit.......I have to call it how I see it.
I have already rewatched the game.....yes I am a freak like that. I will be rewatching it again probably tonight. At the time I was more focused on the game than the actual hit and everything.........I didn't even care about the hit at the time.
After rewatching it though I noticed one of the things that Martin did right after the hit was turn around and stand over the guy flexing his muscles as the guy laid motionless on the ground........I know he was pumped as hell, but that embarrassed me a bit.
I will absolutely guarantee you that the coaches talked to Martin about that hit after they watched the film.
does he survive in today's league or does he get suspended?
actually..in re watching this video...all those hits are clean and with the shoulder pads........
LOL @ :56 he punches the guy in the facemask......... I quit watching after that- assured he would have got his fare share of fines/suspensions...
Let me clarify something..........I am not saying a penalty should have been thrown. I don't care about that. But anytime you make contact with someone's face who is running full speed in the opposite direction as you (he did hit him in the head with his shoulder........I guarantee it, rewatch it......I already did) that is nothing to be proud of.
ANYONE........even the punter.........could lay someone out by leading with the shoulder to the helmet. I paused it on my tv and marveled at how he laid the guy out........and he fed his shoulder to that boys mouth.
If the kid got severly hurt then everyone would have a totally different opinion on this.
JJM.. the penalty is for leading with the helmet...
helmets are going to touch each other, it's football...
I'm pretty sure the technical term is "helmet-to-helmet penalty."
But I am done here, because homerism is unbeatable.......and this I do know from several years of experience.
Flagrant Personal Fouls (Rule 9-6). For 2009-10 the rules committee has added a new section that calls for conferences in the days following a game to review certain particularly dangerous plays. This new rule says that if a player is ejected for any flagrant personal foul the conference must review the game video for possible further action. In addition, if the officials call fouls for targeting defenseless players or using the crown of the helmet and the player is not ejected, the rules mandate a conference review. Furthermore, if the review by the conference reveals actions that should have resulted in a personal foul but were not called, the conference may impose sanctions.
