Fuck sakes. I was looking forward to a long term viable HC.

Now what? A Super bowl caliber team without a coach or QB.

Promote Schwartz. Your D was awesome all year long. Can't afford to lose him imo.

.......what a $elfish greedy fuck,....he only did it for the $$$$,....now he gets to "double-dip" and get his buffalo buyout ($4-mill.), and possibly a jets contract = $5-mill./yr.,....$9-mill.for 2015/not bad.,....what about his coaching staff and their families, not to mention his ex-players trust...?!

I'll have to agree on the last part. Players talk I can't see how any player could respect this guy he bailed on an up and coming team. Really twice now if I was a player I would think he will end up doing the same thing.

I think this was the right move by Marrone. The FO didn't want to extend him or his assistants. With having the out-clause & the seemingly lack of support from the FO, it was a no-brainer for him to opt out.

The Bills FO is a joke. Has been for 15 years and is probably worse than ever now. I hate to see him go after the Bills had a season that wasn't exclusively sad.

Can you really say something like "Super Bowl caliber team without a QB or a coach". That's like saying "really fast car but without engine or tires".

Yeah. SB caliber defense is more accurate. Playoff caliber team is more accurate.

Agree with you on the defense this year. Hope they can keep it that way for next year.

If you have that kind of Defense, you can get by with just a slightly above-average QB in the right system (see Russell Wilson), which is why I want them to try to get Cutler (who I think is probably just above average in NFL starting QB terms) for next year. While the iron is hot (with that D), you have to strike. Can't go into 2015 with Jeff Tuel, EJ Manuel, another turd from the draft starting at QB.

Bills have asked to interview the following coaches for the HC job:

1. Seattle OC Darrell Bevell (No!)
2. NE OC Josh McDaniels (God No!)
3. Broncos OC Adam Gase (Maybe?)
4. Seattle DC Dan Quinn (Maybe)

The wild card is Jim Schwartz. Rumors were floated he might be promoted to HC. He surely heard them and Jim has a bit of an ego. He might take issue with another DC being hired as HC.

I'd rather Reich over those options.

Don't you think we are being a little delusional about Reich? The guy has only one year experience as an Offensive Coordinator with the Chargers and he wasn't that impressive (30th in rushing offense). Those other four guys have a ton more experience where it counts.

I'd take Reich over McDaniels because I just think McDaniels as a HC is a joke, but I'd rather have the other guys over Reich.

And I love Frank Reich.

Why no talk of Kubiak? He would be the best option wouldn't he?

Baltimore keeps this up and the wait on Kubiak will be even longer! Come on Pitt!

That 2-14 season with a Texans team that had talent on their roster might be scaring people off.

Bills will go cheap. Kubiak will probably command more money than a Frank Reich would.

That would rule. But he'd probably retire at the end of the first year.

Reports are coming out that Marrone is a control freak and had alienated many within the Bills, front office and players alike. Trying to force 2 more years after a tepid first two years at best is basically saying you want out. He's a former OL coach that couldn't get this OL to play together, despite several high profile draft picks at the position (Glenn, Richardson, Wood, Kouandjio, and even Henderson, who fell in the draft due to non-talent reasons). His offense is stagnant and boring, takes no chances, and he has failed to develop Manuel. How does any of this entice the Jets? They have mostly the same problems, only with less talent at RB, WR, and OL. Good riddance, can't believe I tried to support him as a huge Orange fan....

As far as the Bills go, they seem to be interviewing EVERYONE. Shanahan is now on the list, along with Bengals OC Hue Jackson, Lions DC Teryl Austin, Colts OC Pep Hamilton, Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell, Seahawks DC Dan Quinn, Broncos OC Adam Gase, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, and of course current Bills DC Jim Schwartz. They even inquired about Time Warner spokesman Bill Cowher, but he won't leave TV. I imagine Rex Ryan will be considered as well.

Whomever they pick, they need a new offensive mind, whether as head coach or a new OC. The Bills should be well set offensively once they settle on a QB. RB is stacked (if they keep Spiller), WR is set, OL has a lot of young talent and upside, even TE has two useful players (Chandler and Gray). Obviously, the defense is set, with the possible exception of replacing/re-signing Hughes and maybe adding another player or two to the DBs (Searcy might leave, and an upgrade at CB over Graham couldn't hurt). I could see going with a defensive coordinator if Schwartz won't stay, and at that point they might as well just promote Schwartz.

I hate Josh McDaniels (awful with the Broncos as head coach and with the Rams as OC; he only seems to succeed under Belichick), so I hope that doesn't happen. Shanahan may be the way to go, as he is the only true "head" coach of the bunch. Schwartz wasn't impressive in Detroit as head coach in his previous go-around.
