Just saw this. I was actually going to sign up for Root for a month because I just can't quit this fucking team....now it'll be cheaper, yay!

I signed up for it right after I posted it. I have Hulu Live TV and like it way better than Fubu. I am glad I didn't have to make that decision of going back and losing channels and paying more just for the Mariners.

$20 a month? Dang, I wonder if they realize you can go buy a new phone and pay $2.99 a month for Netflix, Disney plus and all those services. I mean it’s really not that much but to compare it with other services that provide a lot more kind of seems like shooting themselves in the foot. If they did it at that price going in 23 when the fan base was happy ok, but it isn’t.

Honestly I don’t get why they don’t just do a deal with the Pac 12 enterprises to produce their games and then have Amazon give them a fat contract to stream it. Im sure there is some out in their contract if they just declare Root bankrupt

i assume there are quite a few people like me who only get fubo or hulu live for the m's. for us, it's a pretty good deal and something we've been waiting for since cord cutting became a thing. also, it's through mlb.com, so this isn't a platform that root set up on its own. i'm betting this has been in the works for a long time.

i like it because if they suck as bad as I think after a month, then i'm down $20 without any other commitment. but i do see what you're saying.

I’m not saying it’s bad, just seems the price point is high especially for an offseason of nothing but negativity. It would actually be more expensive for a fan but if they came out and said it’s only 99 cents per game I’d bet more fans would sign up.

For sure. The yanks charge $25/month and Dodgers are $30, but they're the Yanks and the Dodgers. And hard to compare, but Tennis Channel streaming is $10/month. It doesn't provide coverage for the majors since that's all on ESPN or sometimes a major network, but it's a LOT of hours of coverage for $10/month.

I'm actually mad at myself for putting any money at all in Stanton's pockets, even whatever fraction they get of that $20, but I just can't help myself.

What I have been telling people today as well. Your only choices for M's before this were Fubo and Xfinity. Xfinity are the M's of cable and Fubo doesn't have a lot of the channels I want. So I am celebrating. Sure, cheaper would have been better but Blazers were the same and I was fine with that. Like @cezero said, we can quit at any time. Me happy.

I think I posted the Guardians deal a few weeks back.
