I don't think you are wrong. I look at other top prospects, some that are now in the majors, and compare them to ours and we just look a bit weak. I am talking physical attributes. I watched the M's top prospects vs the Guardians during spring training and they looked so much more developed. Stronger, more mature just stronger. Yes ours are still young, but there seems to be a difference to me. Time will tell. Hopefully history won't repeat. More disappointment than celebration.I am just putting it out there our 1st round pick players are not exactly inspiring confidence with me. Harry Ford and Cole Young to me look like they will provide nothing but depth in the major league roster and although Emerson is ranked high in the top 100 he doesn't look like much to me as far as his output. I know its premature to judge a 19 year old so I won't dwell on it. I still think that international prospects are the prime players to go after. Something about players in any sport from humble backgrounds are super focused on trying to make it.
Hmm, to me Emerson looks like a grown man for 19. But I also think Emerson and Young is the type they are trying to go for in terms of trying to build a gap to gap team instead of just home runs. Not developing is kind of the hard part of drafting HS kids. We can talk about the international guys but we can’t pretend the Mariners haven’t massively failed on that front too, cause they have Julio and no one else. That SS they got a couple of years ago has basically already flamed out.I

Agree on some of it. As far as developed it is basically Cal then before that Seager. Big gap.Hmm, to me Emerson looks like a grown man for 19. But something Jerry always says about the prospects bug me when he always say draft and develop. Well they draft and really haven’t developed. Cal turned out to be a stud but what other prospect (I consider Kelenic still cause he was 19) have they “developed”.
But I think lean is what they are going for with Young and Emerson. At least when they talk about them being gap to gap that’s what I take.Agree

My point about physically looking different than others is that the ones I watched those kids were like 215-220. Our guys are like 190. I agree that might be by some choice from Dipoto, but it is drastically different in my mind. Emerson is tall and lean.
Ya I agree with that. I am just not sure that will be the case though. I hope it will be.But I think lean is what they are going for with Young and Emerson. At least when they talk about them being gap to gap that’s what I take.
