Diaz locks it down, he's developed in to a good closer.

Diaz is slamming the door on them. Has the hitters guessing fastball and cheating too much and looking bad on the sliders and they are not even able to lay off the heater when its off the plate.

3 quick saves for him already. I said it earlier on the team chat boards before they closed them ... if Diaz can notch 45 saves this season, I like our chances at sneaking into the playoffs. he is well on his way with 3 in the 1st four games

mariners win it 6-4.....stanton will strike out aaaaaa lot ....lol

Yea I am not sure what comes after the Golden Sombrero ? 5 strikouts - hahahaha

i actually wish they had a second closer..or one that could come up from tacoma...and with a 8 man bull pen
it should be possible later in the season...cuz the more they see him..the more old hat he will be to them
then they will catch up to him

cook maybe a possible on that..we will see

Mariano Rivera made a living throwing 1 single pitch as a reliever for 15+ years.

Every hitter knew it was coming, they were ready for it and they all failed miserably time and time again.

he threw 1 pitch ... the cut fastball. They all knew it was coming and at what speed ...and still could not hit it

Great job of hitting with RISP an men on base... We didn't rely on the HR today, just timely hitting... That is something we lacked last season... Also, to get what we got out of Gonzales from our #4 SP is great... Couldn't ask for more... 3-1!

For Diaz it's about location and being ahead in the count. As long as he gets ahead with a well located fastball or surprises with a slider for a strike, the hitter is way behind. They have to load up for 98 and any slider that starts in the zone is an automatic swing.

His worst enemy is himself. Get behind or get rattled with a walk or HBP and that's when the drama starts. His stuff is absolutely filthy and we're seeing how far along his slider is already. It's unhittable.

Seager has always been pretty streaky, but in the aggregate he'll be good for 25 HRs and a .260ish average.

And those aren't bad numbers at all for a third baseman. I think a lot of the disappointment from Seager stems from the fact that after he signed his extension we thought he would keep growing into a .280, 35+ home run player, when in reality he pretty much plateaued at .260 and 25ish home runs.

I don’t have a problem with Seager at third, but I do have an issue with his spot in the lineup. When we have someone like Haniger lighting it up there’s no reason Kyle shouldn’t get shifted lower in the order with Haniger moving up. Cano-Cruz-Haniger is murderers row right now. Time for skip to make the move.

Well, Haniger did move into the 4 spot yesterday, most likely with a leftie on the mound. There's an attractive aspect of going L/R/L/R from 2-6, and you undo that if you flip Haniger and Seager once Nellie is back. Seager has a track record of hitting upper 25+ HRs and around a .265 average. Haniger's track record is 2 really good months at this level. He looks like the real deal for sure, but he's still mostly unproven.

I get what you're saying. I just wish manager would move guys around in the order more, not just keep them in one spot. It's not switching positions just either trying to get them one more AB when they are hot, or one less. Or when they are hot either protecting them or them protecting someone else. Just one thing I've haven't grasped yet, with all the new things managers are trying, changing up the lineup isn't one of them.

That is the major thing some people have an issue with, though they don't realize the contract actually wasn't bad for the time. Though I don't really care, dude is a streaky hitter that can carry them for a couple of weeks and has put up great numbers for a guy who was never suppose to be a starter in the majors.
