he's got ALLLLLL the connections!

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline
Luongo using the power of his no-trade to "steer" a trade to #Panthers as much as possible at this point in off-season.

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline
Only place Luongo is willing to be traded, as of today, is back to the Florida #Panthers.

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline
Told by very good source #Canucks G Roberto Luongo has - to this point -- declined to waive no-trade clause to go to #Blackhawks or #Leafs.

Dingleberry is following the Eklund strategy.

What are the chances that he doesn't get moved? Since the Florida front office knows that they're the only ones in contention, they no longer have to offer something competitive. It's up to whether Vancouver wants to treat this as a salary dump or not.

Just to make things interesting, somebody needs to throw Cory Schneider an offer sheet...

Damian Cox suggested Brian Burke do this to push the trade faster.

Gillis is in a pickle but I think its fully under control and Luongo will be a Leaf or a Panther come July 1

If I look at who's in the position of power I'd have to say it's Gillis. He's got the asset that the Leafs need and if the trade doesn't happen then oh well. The worst that happens for the Canucks is they have two great goaltenders that takes up salary space and the Leafs have none and miss the playoffs (again).

truth and I bolded an edit ... Burke will be taking more and more heat from leafs fans and media as the weeks pass and Luongo sits there

and i dont think @strombone1 in the short term would cause problems in the lockerroom ... other than maybe trying to post naked pics of Crampy Schneider after photoshopping a bruins logo on his back

Burke can spout all he wants, but if anyone thinks he's going to go into next season with Reimer and Scrivens as his goaltending tandem, well I have some ocean front property in Calgary to sell you.

If he goes to the Panthers, I think it happens before July 1st.

At this point, it seems unlikely that Garrison re-signs so it makes some sense to send his rights to Vancouver, imo.

I could see that happening.

They'd be foolish not to do it by July 1st. Let's be honest, the number one priority is dropped Luongo's cap hit. The time when they need it the most is July 1st.

first ... Gillis sees July 1st as overpayment day and with the meagre dregs that are available I dont know how active he will be anyways

second ... they have 14 mill in cap room with Luongo still on their team if Gillis chooses to join the idiots and play the overpay game

Unless they there's a player that they really want/need. If they wanted to push for any of the big names, and there are a few, they could lock up 2, maybe 3.

I really doubt theyre going to overpay for Suter or Parise ... which is what they would probably have to do since i dont think vancouver is either players #1 destination

canucks are waiting til July 1, 2013 when they will underpay for Shea Weber

:)

Optimism at it's most dangerous..

They're left with a trade and it's sounds like Lu isn't budging.

Damian Cox suggested Brian Burke do this to push the trade faster.

after wasting so much ink on how the Leafs overpaid with 2 first round picks for kessel,
he's suggested an offer sheet which has a price of three first round picks and a second for Schneider.

someone needs to take that idiot's pen away.

yes getting Weber under market is optimistic but he's said "things" sooooooo .... and I dont mean public declarations meant to increase demand from other teams (ie Jason Garrison saying "it would be a dream to play for the canucks")

Optimism at its ultimate would be to suggest Parise or Suter would have the canucks at the top of their July 1st lists and that the canucks should get into a bidding war to get either player

14 million in cap space with Luongo still canucks property on July 1 doesnt hamper any efforts to improve the 3rd and 4th line depth or maybe even a top 6 scorer ... there are bargoons to be had lol
