not really. a brace will protect you in early stages so you don't do something small like twist or because of proprioceptive loss, lose our balance and put stress on the knee that will re-injure the tissues. That's it.
If the knee is still that weak, so he won't twist on some bad turf and tear it. It's not going to do anything when he's in a pile of 300+ pounders putting a hit on him or running down field and goes to make a cut. Like I said, a matter of time.
