Miller tried to take quite a swing at Lucic with his stick. But he missed.


I have no problem with the play, personally. He got Miller a little high, but when a goalie's that far out of his net, I think he should be fair game.

Of course, it's also illegal to check the goalie, so the correct call was made.

It's a fast game and Miller came out of the net to play the puck. Goalies should get hit like that more often if they're going to play the role of a defenseman. That's basically what they are at that point.

I agree that the goalie should be fair game outside of the crease however that's not a change that I think will ever be made. Even if the goalie was allowed to be hit, you still probably could have gotten Lucic for interference.

IMO Miller should get a one game suspension. I know he was upset, and understandably so, and he didn't make contact, but still you can't be swinging your stick at guys like that, and especially not a goalie stick. Gotta keep your temper under control even when something like that happens.

edit: not to sway off topic, but I am also a non-fan of the trapziod. Sure, keep it. But make it the only goalie safe zone for handling the puck, can play the puck ANYWHERE outside of there or the crease and he's a skater. Handle the puck with care.

Exactly. where the slash call on the full stick swing? No question it was intentional, intent to injure, full sweeping swing. He just missed is all.

then they let Miller get a way will some shananagans in the crease, so call it even.

I'm thinking you've changed directions on the ice in that much space before. Or at least did you had ample time to... at a minimum you know a few maneuvers... you could have started lazily listing to the left to avoid the collision.

This is hard for me because I hate Lucic so very much....but I'm glad he did this. Screw goalies who think they can't be touched when they come out of their nets. If goalies leave their crease, they are subject to context. Could Lucic have avoided this, definitely (But my dislike for Miller made it worth it.)

And especially screw goalies who go crying to the media every time something bad happens.

Miller, you have just jumped ahead of Lucic on my list of most hated players. Don't worry though, you're still not number 1.

goalies can fuckin come 10 feet out of the crease and create interference calls, even if the other player has established position, goals get waived off. goalies can't be fuckin touched. only athletes in pro sports more protected than nhl goalies are nfl qbs.

I thought it was great. If Miller doesn't want to be hit he can stay in the crease. I thought it was funny when Lucic was standing their after the hit all by himself just waiting for someone on the Sabres to engage him in a fight & they didn't do it.

What's funny is there are rumblings that Miller's wife doesn't like Buffalo & wants to live in LA, NYC bigger media market so to speak. If Miller was playing the way he's capable of we wouldn't hear any of that crap.
