Per Kentucky Sports Radio website:

A 1:30 pm press conference has been called at the University of Louisville involving President Ramsey, Tom Jurich and Rick Pitino. KSR is hearing the Cards arewill announce a self-imposed postseason ban for the current season.

Of course the timing of the announcement is very strategic. Friday before Super Bowl weekend? They know what they’re doing over there. Put this out when the national media is in San Francisco with Peyton and Cam.

That would be crazy if they announced a self-imposed ban for this year. I don't believe it, but hope it's true

I get that KSR crew are UK homers but they are typically in the know in and around the entire state of KY regarding all things sports.

Obviously no news on the why behind this ban but I would have to think it's all based on the recent issues of hookers and impermissible benefits.

Bullshit that the kids don't get to play in the postseason, but the coaches get to keep getting paid like nothing happened.

Second year a relatively new ACC school will skip the ACC Tournament.

We really know how pick 'n choose them.

then again, the school that most people identify the ACC with..is in the middle of the biggest academic scandal in recent history..

Yes they are banning themselves for to many hookers:

Louisville to self-impose postseason ban for alleged violations related to prostitution scandal

The university reached that conclusion this week amid an ongoing NCAA investigation. That investigation began in October after Louisville madam Katina Powell wrote a tell-all book, “Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen,” alleging that former U of L staffer Andre McGee paid for strippers to dance for and have sex with Louisville recruits and players over a period of four years. Some of the alleged transactions and interactions took place in the players’ dormitory.

sometimes allowing benefit of doubt is doubtfully beneficial, DEPT...

so a former coach was paying strippers/whores to service player recruits over the 4-year period 2010>2014 and NONE of the current players knew about that? pfft. they ALL knew about it and knew it was major violations shit, yet they agreed to join anyway.

I'm not takingthe kids side persay, I'm just saying that it seems like the kids are being punished, while the coaching staff isn't even getting a slap on the wrist.

Pitino should definitely be suspended for the rest of the season at minimum.

As a UK fan, I only feel bad for the two kids who were graduate transfers and now won't have a chance to play in the post season.

I'm thinking Pitino will be looking for a new job at the end of the season.

I don't know if he survives this one jonvi... I'm hearing that people in and around the program are fearful that the banner may be coming down.

I don't know if that will happen or not, but this isn't the first time the rumor mill has churned with Rick being out at the end of the year.

I for one hope that's not the case since Cal has basically owned him while at UK. :nutswing:

The NCAA should allow the player to switch schools with no penalty. They went there in good faith. But the schools past actions are screwing them. Seniors and one and done players are the ones that this hurts the most.

Well....just saying.....SU's losing Boeheim. This could be great timing.

Patino get's a J O B at a monster program. UofL best hang onto their boy.
