Lou never lets anything leak, he is as tight lipped as they come, always plays his cards close to the vest and his subordinates are expected to keep their mouth's shut as well. Curious to see how that goes in Toronto. Not sure how his "everything is status quo" responses will work with the Toronto media.

Toronto reporters will call Louie's family members to get the straight dope.

Also, when do Scott Gomez and Ilya Kovalchuk join the Maple Leafs?

Toronto media has already been shut out since Shanny dumped Dave. Nobody had a clue Kessel was going to Pittsburgh, nobody had a clue the Leafs were that serious about Babcock, etc. Shanahan's shut the door and Lou fits fine with that.
Repeat after me...no change everything is status quo

I mean it really is a good move for Toronto. Lou has had his misteps in recent years but he's also had some bad luck, Parise wanting to go home (that was partially financial constraints because our then owner was flat out broke) and Kovalchuk deciding to go back to Russia, those are two monster losses back to back. Don't let the last few years deter you.

He still knows how to build a culture and make it structured and professional. He can provide guidance and stability to a group that is largely made up of guys that are just starting out or from the minors. I would imagine the Maple Leafs are well connected scouting wise throughout Canada, now you have a guy who has all his connections in the NCAA so you've cast your scouting net out even further. As a placeholder/mentor that can help create a blue print he'll be solid.

He'll also have Shanny to veto him on things like not giving up the 29th pick in the draft when you know you have to forfeit one in the next few years.

Shanahan is now Lou's boss. Raise your hand if you saw this coming 25 years ago.

Shanahan > The Excellence of Execution

Off to buy my folding chair so I can camp out on the parade route!

I am so excited I am making even less sense than usual.

Plan. The. Parade.

I am on painkillers (has a knee procedure today), so I really thought I was hallucinating when I saw the headline.

Louis Lams at today's presser - We have a lot of work to do, but I look forward to working with Brendan, Kyle, and Mike. One thing's for sure, it's going to be exciting watching Phil Kessel fly down the ice from up high at the ACC.

Shanny (shifting nervously in his chair) - Uh, Lou, we traded Kessel to Pittsburgh.

Louie Lams - When did this happen?

Shanny - About three weeks ago.

Louie Lams - I will take no more questions.

I'd be much more fearful if he said Mogilny or Gilmour.

The #leafs will forfeit a third-round pick to #NJDevils in 2016, 2017 or 2018 for hiring Lou Lamoriello.

I don't know, Lou is not known for being easily agitated, and the Toronto media is not known for harassing a guy.

It'll be fine.
