We won't be needing a great deal of FAs like we once did with all of this young talent that is developing nicely. Our bench is deep and Mosgov has fulfilled the expectations so far at center with great back-ups in Black and Zubac. We are very deep in the backcourt and Ingram is proving to be a great addition as a high draft pick in the first round. I sense that in the 25 games or so, barring injuries, this team could easily take off!!

Out of players that the Lakers could actually get...I'd say CP3 (and shift Russell to 2 guard) or Monroe. Outside of those 2, there really isn't anyone else for them to be interested in.

Tell Griffin he can play for a team in LA that actually has banners in the rafters instead of pictures of players.

Also, Gordon Hayward is worth the money. Just entering his prime. Underrated, has all star talent. Move Ingram to the 2nd guard spot and Russell, Ingram, Hayward, Randle, whoever with Clarkson off the bench is a very tough, young team. I think he stays with Utah (5 year max) but for the purpose of conversation, he's a guy I'd go after

D-Russ is a combo guard at best.....he's a scorer.

I'd love it if CP decided to come mentor the kids and ultimately retire a Laker.

Well, he does kind of fit in with today's "score first" point guards. It would be interesting to see what this team could become with a pure point guard like CP3 and Russell at the 2 where he can concentrate on scoring.

A lineup of

PG - CP3
SG - Russell
SF - Ingram
PF - Randle
C - Mozgov/Zubac

with Clarkson, Nance Jr., Swaggy, Lou and Black off the bench could be very interesting and fun to watch.

I don't see the Lakers getting CP3, but it's fun to think about.

I don't know about Griffin. What do you do with Randle? Griffin is the more talented player, but lacks heart and is as good as he's ever going to be (which is pretty damn good). I think I'd rather have Randle with his upside and toughness.

Hayward wouldn't be a bad idea. Agree with you that he probably stays in Utah though.

I disagee....he was happy the first time he was almost here.....and he'd be in the same city. He could be a mentor and be on an up and coming team. Not sure how many contenders need an aging PG. I could see him coming across the hall.

@Mecca, it's okay to come visit in here even if you might wanna vomit.

I think CP could play at a high level for another 3-4 seasons, especially if he doesn't have ton carry the scoring load. And he can focus on passing and defense with maybe 14-15ppg on this team.

Maybe. I just think that he wants a title and these kids are still at least 2-3 years away from being at that level (assuming they continue to develop and improve).

I think that if CP3 leaves the Clips, it'll be to go to a team where he has a shot at a title. Parker is 34, CP3 is 31. Imagine him on the Spurs.

I'd sure love to be wrong and see him in purple and gold though.

Like some on here have been doing since being hired.....Walton could be the difference.

Why does it feel like the air is thinner in here?

He would not give up the extra coin to play for the Team down the hall if he didn't have a reasonable shot at a title.

True, he could. I just don't see CP3, at 31, wanting to go to a team where he will likely be waiting at least 2-3 more years for a title shot.

You never know though. He may want to stay in LA and figure that if he stays in shape and injury free, he could still play a big role on a team getting to the finals.

You can have all those aging FA vets. I'll stick with the youngsters and roster we have and let Luke develop them into a multiple championship team just like Phil did when Luke was still playing and what Luke experienced at GS with the logo as a consultant!

Imo, whether he leaves or not will all come down to how the Clippers fare this season. So far, they look like true contenders. But we've seen this movie before with them. If that holds up through the playoffs and they at least get to the WCF, then I think he remains a Clipper.

But, if they do their annual 2nd round or earlier exit.....he gone.
