A player who played and provided sub-replacement level performance helped a team less than a player who didn't play and provided nothing.

I'm not saying that Peterson wasn't a bad pick. But I bet teams who drafted Peterson have done better (so far) on average than teams who drafted McCoy.

Exactly! I might just roll with spiller and Thomas next week

Friend just messaged me this.

For the second consecutive week, the Eagles did not have a single carry against fewer than seven men in the box. Meanwhile, LeSean McCoy has been unable to overcome that adversity. His -25 FAYE* was sixth worst the week, and his -112 FAYE for the season is just seven yards out of Donald Brown’s cellar. I expect a lot of fantasy owners will be eager to buy on McCoy still, so sell him if you can. Only 28.6 percent of his carries this season have been against favorable fronts, down from 78.0 percent in 2013. Whether or not he’s the same player, his situation is much, much worse.
*FAYE = Front adjusted yards over expected. Basically it measures yardage gained normalized for the front the back is seeing.
According to this article, last year no one was putting 7+ in the box against the Eagles on a regular basis. Over the last 2 games, SF and WSH did it on every run play and the results speak for themselves. Will the rest of the league continue this trend when playing against McCoy? its a copycat league so i wouldn't bet against it. The Rams are coming off a bye week and you can bet someone in their organization noticed what SF and WSH did. Its interesting to note that the author of this article rated Shady as only his 11th best RB for this week, while every other author at PFF fantasy had him at least 7th, with some as high as 1st.

DJax says hi.... You take away your deep threat. The other team can load the box and take advantage of the injured offensive line blowing up McCoy. No one is going to fear Cooper. Foles can't throw a deep ball even if Maclin gets open deep. :L

My 2 running a backs combined have scored 11.1, 7.2, 9.9 the last 3 weeks. I'm 1-2 in those games.

So I haven't officially lost yet... Thanks to Julian Edelman and bengals defense. I'm up 8.5 at the moment with his Alfred morris going tonight. How are my chances looking?

more thoughts on McCoy's slow/terrible start to the 2014 season:

1) NFC East pulls the NFC West for their schedule this year. NFC West defenses are WAY WAY better than any other division, top to bottom. It's not even close.

2) as mentioned by others, the injuries to the OL/defenses stacked against the run have severely limited the big holes/big gains from last season

3) From what I've watched, McCoy is just trying to do too much with his carries/touches. Foles has struggled in a few games, putting even more pressure on the rushing attack.

4) Chip Kelly has ZERO clue how to run a red zone offense, imo. Doesn't help when you have chances to go ahead in close games (4th qtr @ SF), and immediately after McCoy rushed to the 1yd line on 2nd down, you dial up 2 passing plays, neither of which targeting the top WR, top TE, or top RB......WTF?

All that being said, I'd still want to get some top talent in return if I was trading Shady. Wouldn't accept anything less, especially in a keeper league.

He should still have some great opportunities for big games against the weaker NFC East defenses, just needs to get the wheels turning in the right direction.
I'm expecting that we see a few more 3-4yd plunges through small holes in the line, and less bouncing things to the outside before waiting for the holes to open up, going forward. No way McCoy keeps going for the home run on every carry like he has been. It just hasn't been effective, and most of those runs have resulted in negative yardage, or at least stopped at the line.
