Sort of a unfortunate situation IMO. His cap hit for the Rams this year is 2.5 million I think, if the Seahawks had keep him his cap hit would of been 20 million. Would of loved seeing him retire as a Seahawk but no way he was taking that kind of pay cut as a Seahawk. In any case he now can pursue another ring while the Seahawks try to rebuild.
Seahawks have a history of holding on to players past their prime and paying them top dollar to do so. Wagner situation was no different. Everyone and their brother knew Wags needed to take a severe pay cut because he wasn’t anywhere close to being worth 20 million and he did not offer up any suggestion that he was open to a pay cut, much less a severe pay cut. Sure a phone call in advance would of been nice, but the cards were already on the table. Either he was willing to take a cut in pay or he was getting cut, he didn’t even hint he was open to a pay cut, so he got cut. This isn’t doing him wrong in any way, this is just business.
I don't think anyone was questioning the cut, just the lack of communication and finding out via the internet.
Meh minor point IMO it's not like Wags wasn't aware, but for PR points it would of come across better if a phone call had been made in advance of it hitting the internet.
With the derpiness of the Ram fan clowns on here, no doubt this will surpass even the derpiest PE1 threads.
