To me I know last year he was coming back from a torn ACL but he was missing blocks, we should definitely restructure his contract especially if we’re not going to move on from him

I just saw a mock draft today from NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah n the first thing that pissed me off was the Skins were picking 16th. That always pisses me off cuz it reminds me of the 7-9/10, 8-8/9-8 back into the playoffs to get their ass kicked WC weekend purgatory territory bullshit the Skins always seem to aspire to. The 2nd thing that had serious potential to make me wanna eat glass was the Skins pick of TE Dalton Kincaid from Utah.

Really? Draft a TE in the 1st rd? C'mon now. They just drafted 2 TEs last year n still have Bates. And let Logan go like duke says. Lets see what the 3 TEs they already have can do.

I agree, this, 2023 season appears to be another in a long run of experimental seasons that they have refused to extricate themselves from over the last 20 or so years. It's going to be interesting to read the posts on this site one year from now cautioning against moving up in the 2024 draft to get a QB because of associated costs.

With respect to TEs, that debate is endless and carries merit from either point of view. Getting (drafting) a stud TE in the mold of Kelsey seems to be a no-brainer for the EB offense. The question is EB's offense and whether or not it produces the circumstances for Kelsey's rise which makes it reproducible... an argument in favor of determining whether or not they already have talents favorable to re-creating it here.

In fairness, the difference between Kelsey and number 2 is very dramatic. Almost all TEs are meh.

While I don't disagree with this there remains the question of whether or not Kelsey with his considerable talent has been a product of the Andy Reid system that features the incomparable Mr. Mahomes and Tyreek Hill at one point. If the system produces stars of that proportion then it is indeed reproducible with the correct QB. (BTW; I'm not a believer in Howell)

He was a stud before Mahomes and Andy Reid’s system has never created anybody close to Kelce.

Are you sure about that? (He's out of the league had he been drafted here)

On January 4, 2013, Reid reached a five-year contract agreement to become the head coach of the Chiefs He's still their HC.

Kelce was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round (63rd pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft (April 25-27th)

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Mahomes in the first round (10th overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Here are Kelce's career highlights... (All under Reid and enhanced with the addition of Mahomes... Alex Smith preceded PM)

A. NFL 2010 All-Decade team (Spanning 2010 thru 2019)
B. 8x Pro Bowl (2015-2022)
C. 3x Second-team All-Pro (2017, 2019, 2021)
D. 4x First-team All-Pro (2016, 2018, 2020, 2022)
E. 2x Super Bowl Champion (LIV, LVII)

ok, so what do we do at 16? i'm sort of in the mode of trading down and acquiring an extra 3rd rd pick.

At 16, you see what is available. We had Jon Allen fall to us at 17.

If we drop to 20, we need a third. If we drop to the late 20s, we need a second.

I am a bigger fan of picking up a round earlier next season in those trades than I am of taking picks this season in a trade. Instead of getting a 3 or 2 this season, get a 2 or 1 next season. Prime targets would be NO or JAX because I would project them to be the higher probability of a high draft pick next season.

Pretty sure. Mahomes took over in 2018. In the two years preceding Mahomes, Kielce put up 1125/4 and 1038/8.

Brent Celek is the only TE Reid had that ever did anything. He had a single season of 900 yards and his next best was 600.

all of that makes sense. guess have to see how the draft goes early. if there's a run on QB's early going to be a lot there for wsh to take.

OK
Reid drafted Kelce in 2013 and those numbers reflect work done under Reid's system with Alex Smith directing his offense. Kelce's number and fame ultimately increased with the addition of Mr. Mahomes as you've correctly stated in 2018.

Now to be fair to both of us your definition of his being a "Stud" prior to the 2018 season is beyond refute because you set your own standards regarding what constitutes that, but my question to you is if he was a "Stud" prior to 2018 and Mahomes becoming their starter, how do you now classify him since that time? To what do you attribute the rise in his numbers and status since Mahomes became their starter? How did Kelce work inside of Reid's system and get credit for his work while Reid apparently gets zero credit for instituting said system?

Here are Kelce's year-to-year stats:

Kelce’s production has gone up because the offense throws more and is more efficient. There is also a natural progression in his game as experience has increased.

Who designed and instituted that offense?
