I didn't read this when I saw it earlier today because these kinds of list are always nonsense. I mean there was a list about a week ago that had the Lions fans, I believe it was, 29th. Any fan base that's been through everything we've been through and still come back for more has to be top 5! Anyway, no one will know how good our offseason was until the season is in full swing. And I'm guessing the author thinks Mayhew should have hog tied Suh and threatened hims family so he'd take the 10 mil or so the team could actually afford to pay him.

D- seems a little lenient to me.

But Tyrun Walker is evidently awesome in practice, so I guess it's fair.

Starting 1-4 or 0-5 is a real unfortunate possibility.

Losing Suh they way they did without getting a thing for him is easily the biggest botch job by any GM in NFL history. Just one more reason what Martin Mayhew is the worst GM in the league.

Lions: Shame on them — and we're talking unwise cap management over the years — for creating scenario that allowed game-wrecking DT Ndamukong Suh to escape for nothing

Even if we still had Suh it would be a real possibility. The schedule is brutal early on. No way round it. We will also see if Austin is a genius or not.

With Suh, I got the Lions going 7-1, maybe 6-2 at worst first 8 out the box. He'd cripple Peyton.

I was wondering what brilliant move salvaged a passing grade.

So we got a D- not for failing to resign him, but creating situation to make us unable to resign him? That's fucking stupid.

But it's gospel to those types who like to throw the term "koolaid" at any of us who think positive things...

Resigned Levy without overpaying. That should get it to a D-. Now if he doesn't fuck it up by extending Ngata.

I think we gotta get Ngata extended because of all the capital we gave up to get him, but it needs to be a contract that gives us a clean out after the 2nd year of the deal if he's not performing. Put most, if not all, of the guaranteed money in the first two years of the deal and tie as much of the rest as you can into performance-based bonuses.

It gives Ngata a chance to bet on himself and potentially earn a lot of money, and it protects the Lions from being chained to an over-paid has been. We'd be taking on some risk for next season if he totally flops, but you gotta roll the dice a little- the "perfect" scenario doesn't exist.

I would almost like Ngata to bet on himself by proving he is worth another contract this season.

He proves it, they can pay him. He does not, then they have the money to bring in a FA next offseason. That is of course if a FA wants to come to Detroit. I've heard different somewhere.

Ngata gonna happen.

Hopefully Mayhew isn't stupid enough to give that old man an extension. Atleast until he's physically able to perform. And has something to perform in, like a game. (Not a game, not a game, were tallinbough practice.)
