Detroit Lions have visit with Washington Safety Taylor Rapp

The Lions are using one of their prospect visits on the talented Washington Safety.

BB_72; I wouldn't be shocked if Rapp ends up being our 2nd round pick even over a CB and his pro-day forty was somewhere slightly above 4.7 depending on what source you go by. If not Rapp then I believe they draft some other Safety.

Pro-Day Report - Washington | Draft Analyst

The big news coming from Washington pro day was Taylor Rapp running in the mid 4.7s. I’m told he timed from 4.72 to 4.77 seconds despite the fact that Rapp had been running much faster in recent training.

That's a damn good short shuttle and 3-cone but that lack of long speed answers what most had questioned.

Detroit Lions' 5 biggest needs entering NFL draft: It's not all defense

Cornerback

Tight end

Wide receiver

Interior offensive line

Defensive line

BB_72; I don't believe they intended the above list as in order.

We are good at TE with JJ. He could of produced a lot more if big ben didn't have to throw crybaby AB 15 targets a game.

We are set with CB as we paid Coleman 36 mil, got Slay and have the ascending, elite shutdown cornerback in Teez Tabor as well.

WR is set with Marvin Jones and Golladay but definitely need Metcalf to replace Jones after this year.

Set at IOL as well, Ragnow was a first rounder. Glasgow looks like the second coming of Nate Manigold and rumor has it that TJ Lang is working out furiously to make a comeback, be re-signed and prove all his haters like @broncosmitty wrong.

Defensive line is set as well. We signed the greatest FA Patriot to ever lace them up in Flowers. Suh is coming back according to @RobBase . Snacks , A.Robinson and Hand are arguably the best DT rotation in all of football even without Suh.

Lions could actually skip this draft and still contend for a championship.
Even Tom Brady is rumored to want to come here after his contract is up so he could win a couple more rings but Gizelle told him no because there weren't even modeling opportunities in Detroit.

Detroit Lions 7-Round Mock Draft | The Draft Network

I wouldn't be happy at all with Burns at #8. All the games I've watched FSU Burns doesn't always get involved with seal/contain edge for run and actually shy's away from run support all too often for me when he had the opportunity to make the tackle as his teammates failed to do so.

The Hardman pick scares me because he gets thrown off his routes by physical press DB but if he gets his release through quick twitch and speed then he's off to the races.

Wesco shouldn't even be considered until 7th round, if not an UDFA. He's a damn good inline blocking TE but he hasn't shown me the ability to get into the seam and sit down in soft zone or release deep into seam.

This might be the worst Lions mock I have seen so far.

The one from PFF was pretty bad too.

They had us going Greedy/Deebo Samuel.

Logic behind the Samuel pick is he is like Golden Tate and would replace him.
Why the hell would the GM trade Tate for a third rounder, just to burn an even HIGHER pick on the exact same player? lol

Meet the Prospect: Deebo Samuel

Name: Deebo Samuel

Position: Wide receiver

School: South Carolina

Ht/Wt: 5-11, 214

40-yard dash: 4.48 seconds

Bench: 15 reps

Vertical: 39.0 inches

Broad: 122.0 inches

3-cone: 7.03 seconds

20-yard shuttle: 4.14 seconds

What they had to say about him: “Samuel is a thick, muscular wideout. He's been extremely productive when he's been healthy, but he battled multiple injuries during his college career. In South Carolina's offense, he caught a ton of quick hitters – primarily bubble screens and slants. He catches the ball naturally, and he is exceptional after the catch. He uses his lower-body strength to power through tackles, and he can also make defenders miss. He was outstanding at the Senior Bowl proving he's a capable route runner. Overall, Samuel's durability is a concern, but he's dynamic with the ball in his hands and also offers value in the return game.” – Daniel Jeremiah, NFL Network
