Three 2019 Prospects Who Can Help Fix The Dolphins' Pass Rush | The Draft Network

Texas defensive lineman Charles Omenihu
Take all those cliche words we just applied to Wilkins and double down on them. But now it's at defensive end and probably a round or two later in the draft!

Omenihu won't be super coveted because he's not a twitchy athlete, but he's got 36" arms and stacks up blockers at the point of attack with the best of them. He's still a bit of a work in progress from a rush perspective but he's got the athletic tools to develop by the time the Dolphins are ready to start competing again.

Remember: there's more than one way to rush the passer, too. Omenihu can instantly create favorable angles with his power and my running comparison for him right now was a Dolphins target this off-season: Trey Flowers.

NFL Draft & Combine Profile - Charles Omenihu | NFL.com

Charles Omenihu College Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

BB_72; If Omenihu somehow slipped to our 3rd round or even better 4th round he's got a lot of potential as a hand in the dirt DE who slides inside on passing downs and is similar to Hand in that he's just now unleashing all skillset. I've mentioned him several times and he's slipping down on some of the boards.

Five Under The Radar Prospects: Offense - nfldraftscout.com

RB Rodney Anderson, Oklahoma

Anderson managed to stay on the field in 2017, demonstrating exceptional cutback ability, power, burst and home run speed, on his way to accumulating 1,442 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns. However, he has had three season-ending injuries in just four years in college, including a right knee injury that grounded him before he could even take off in 2018. Prior to the injury, Anderson demonstrated great running power and it would often take a swarm of defenders to bring him down. The long, lean-framed runner has a knack for finding the right run lane and knows how to follow his blocks. Can he recapture the same form and if so, how long will it take to get back to full strength? If so, Anderson could emerge as the best back in this draft class.

WR Terry McLaurin, Ohio State

Urban Meyer has stated that McLaurin is one of the hardest working players he has ever been around. A thick-built receiver with excellent power and outstanding blocking ability, McLaurin is capable of de-cleating defensive backs with his devastating hits. He is also a strong runner after the catch with the ability to break tackles and excels on special teams. He was overshadowed at Ohio State due to a crowded supporting cast and being asked to do the dirty work. It would not be a shock to see McLaurin develop into an even finer pro and play a decade-plus in the league.

BB_72; This kid is so damn underrated. He's my favorite WR that has the ability to uncoil all that speed and is a much better route runner than is perceived. imo.

TE Drew Sample, Washington

An exceptional blocker and above average pass catcher, Sample is a noted hard worker and mature player. He takes excellent blocking angles when seeking out targets in the second level. He has amassed 30 career starts, despite sharing duties with Will Dissly (Seahawks) for most of his career, as the Huskies have implemented various tight end formations on offense. In fact, Sample possesses a catch/block skill-set that compares very favorably to Dissly, who was a fourth round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. After a prodigious performance at the Senior Bowl, his stock might even be higher.

AJ Brown (reminds me of Anquan Boldin)

I keep seeing Treadwell, out of the top guys he scares me the most. He does have some similarities to Boldin, but he doesn't have Boldins physical ability.

If sample can match Dissly then that's all good. I didn't see Jake Browning use him all that much and that's more on H.C. Chris Peterson but there were times in the Auburn, Wash St., Ohio State game where Browning could have easily checked down to Sample and didn't. I didn't see Sample release all that much to the intermediate boundary. It was more inline with slant, scissor, quick hitch routes. The Wash-St game was a snow and slush fest field.

I was thinking more inline with his ability to use his body to block out the defender and extend his arms for the catch point. He can jam a DB at the L.O.S. with his hands but he's not consistent enough with those stack and release type.

Lodge reminds me more of Treadwell when comparing the 3 Ole Miss WR. imo.

Holy smokes. Nice work. That's frickin' awesome stomp. I'll have to really delve into that list more but what stood out to me was Tenn and Oak needing slot/z. I'd really like for Oakland to be in a major need for a pass rusher and not get one at #4 then trade their #24 and #27 for our #8. I'd go after Harry and RG Lidstrom. Lidstrom solidifies the power run game and Harry opens up play action and run game with his abilities to line-up anywhere. imo.

I know not everyone uses the labels the same way for this list.

X Primary Target big bodied receiver(Calvin)
Z WR 2 lines up outside opposite of X can be a smaller receiver or another big guy
Slot WR that lines up inside off the LOS
Y TE that lines up off the LOS basically a big slot(Shannon Sharpe)
Flanker TE that lines up on the LOS(Gronk)

I suppose for Oakland AB could be considered a slot or Z, but for this list i was thinking of him as a X

I wouldn't be happy at all with Burns at #8. All the games I've watched FSU Burns doesn't always get involved with seal/contain edge for run and actually shy's away from run support all too often for me when he had the opportunity to make the tackle as his teammates failed to do so.

The Hardman pick scares me because he gets thrown off his routes by physical press DB but if he gets his release through quick twitch and speed then he's off to the races.

Wesco shouldn't even be considered until 7th round, if not an UDFA. He's a damn good inline blocking TE but he hasn't shown me the ability to get into the seam and sit down in soft zone or release deep into seam.

At least the writer seems to have a good grasp of the Lions needs lol

needs yes. player not so much. I really like the Julian Love and Ulysees Gilbert pick and would be on board with Brailford in the 7th. Brailford doesn't have a lot of upper body flexion but he gets the job done with a push/pull, arm over and shoulder dip. He does have the ability to drop in space and is relatively decent at it but needs more experience at it and counter moves.

Burns could excel as a true 3-4 outside rush LB but I don't see what others do in him for MP's system. It's got to be a "me issue".

John Mackey Award: Outstanding Tight End
Keenen Brown, Texas State

For all intents and purposes here, Brown should have been a finalist for the Mackey Award, and likely would have been had he not played in the Sun Belt for Texas State. Brown graded out as the best tight end in all of college football as no tight end was able to do what Brown did after the catch this season, ranking first among all FBS tight ends with 24 missed tackles forced. He hauled in a combined 27 first down and touchdown receptions, racking up 580 yards on 54 catches while he also had the nation’s seventh-highest run-blocking grade among tight ends.

If this kid was still available in 6th round and most definitely 7th round he could be a very good move F-TE. imo. I'm not sure as to why he doesn't get much talk outside of having height weight similar to Irv Smith. He's got some long levers and sneaky speed. He only has the one year of production and it's at Texas State after not getting much play in games at Okie small.
