Building The Perfect Wide Receiver Prospect | The Draft Network

Route Running: Stanley Morgan Jr.
Stanley Morgan Jr. has the most nuanced, varied route running in the class. With above average explosiveness through route breaks, technical refinement and the awareness to alter his stems based on defensive coverages.

Catch Radius: J.J. Arcega-Whiteside
There is no defense for a JJ Arcega-Whiteside jump ball. The former basketball player uses a box out technique and full extension to the catchpoint to really expand his catch radius.

BB_72; I still believe Arcega-Whiteside is one of the two best route runner's in this class. I had Riley Ridley as the other. He doesn't have the speed to beat a heavy induced stay-on press but his nuanced steps at the top of his stem does.

Technical Prowess: Jakobi Meyers
Meyers crisp footwork and natural cuts allows him to create passing windows with excruciating consistency, despite less than ideal speed. These traits will make him a third-down threat at the next level.

BB_72; Love this kids ability to win with his footwork, extension of hands. Meyers is my day 3 version of N'Keal Harry however a somewhat shorter-lighter type. Meyers is more inline with 5th/6th round, imo.

Releases/Beating Press Coverage: Terry McLaurin
McLaurin has the necessary speed and agility to thrive through the contact window. His experience as a punt gunner gives him a natural feel for closing space down and hand usage while facing press coverage.

BB_72; I've been talking up McLaurin for two months now and if BQ has drafted a WR by that late round 3 pick then this is my first choice especially if he somehow isn't draft by our 4th round pick (I highly doubt the latter happens but you never know).

Agree about Myers but I want Harry. I am not trying to replace Tate. I am trying to replace MJ. Also agree on Ridley being the best route runner. Not interested in the rest of these guys.

Devin Bush LB, Michigan Wolverines
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Michigan LB Devin Bush is visiting the Giants on Sunday.
The Giants hold the No. 6 overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft and are likely doing their due diligence on all of the top prospects. It's no secret they need help on defense and Bush (5'11/234) would be a start. He produced a 97th percentile SPARQ athletic composite score at the NFL Scouting Combine and will likely be selected at some point within the top-15 picks.

They damn well better not unless it is at 17. If we trade back then maybe it is not after 16. Panthers probably want Sweat so that is possible.

2019 NFL Draft rankings: Everything to know about RBs, from elusiveness to power to contact balance

No Rodney Anderson in any of these. What a crappy list excluding him, says Old Lion.

Good. Keep him under the radar.

No Bennie Snell either. Snell wont be on any lists. He is just not exceptional at anything. I honestly dont know how he does what he does. You look at him and its like meh, but somehow he just succeeds at moving the ball. Its like a 6th sense he has to know where the space will be and somehow he squeezes through it.

2019 NFL Draft QIB qualifiers: Offensive line

Full QIB qualifiers: Elite athlete

Lions examples: Taylor Decker, Frank Ragnow, Graham Glasgow, Joe Dahl

arrett Bradbury (C, NC State) will be the top interior offensive lineman on most boards but I believe he will slide in behind Lindstrom for the Lions due to his lack of arm length — checking in over an inch shorter than every Lions offensive lineman. This could make him a center-only on some teams boards despite having experience starting at left guard as a sophomore.

Erik McCoy (IOL, Texas A&M) isn’t talked about enough in the Lions community but if the three players above him on this list are off the board his combination of power, athleticism and the ability to play all three interior spots could put him in play for them in Round 2.

Round 2?
I would be pretty surprised if we spent another elite pick on IOL.
The back 7 of the defense has way too many issues. Along with a severe lack of depth behind Golladay and Jones.
If Quinn is worth his salt at all, finding a RG or C in rounds 3-6 shouldn't be an issue.
We have 2- top 45 picks and if they aren't used on LB,S,CB or WR. It would be a bit disappointing.

The more I examine this draft class at the top. The weaker it looks.
A lot of pundits don't have it but to me, Devin Bush is a legit, top ten prospect.
After Allen, Bosa, Q. Williams and Metcalf. He is squarely in the next tier of prospects for me with D.White and E.Oliver. Then I think there is another drop off after those 3.
He is every bit as athletic as D. White and his instincts at this point might even be a bit better.
I am surprised that some pundits have White as a top 5 selection and Devin going in the teens.

In the current on going mock draft Smitty took Jawan Taylor. I like it, let's Wagner move inside where he does not have to worry about getting beat on the outside anymore.

Just took Oruwariye in the second.

Neither were who I had targeted with the picks, but took what the draft gave me.

Had kinda eye balled Ed Oliver, Josh Allen or Hock for the first. But Allen and Oliver were the 6th and 7th pick and I just couldn't go TE that high. And he went with the next pick.

I thought oliver might fall to you, but Allen was not getting past 6. I wish I had taken Rock Ya-Sin instead of Daniels in the 2nd

Rock and Irv Smith were the other guys I looked at the most.

Would you have taken Haskins in the first if he was there?

I wouldn't be angry if we took Ed Oliver at #8 but we are kind of loaded at DT right now. Robinson was playing pretty well at the end of the season, Snacks was great and if D.Hand continues his development. That is a formidable front line.

As a very wise man once told me, "Let the draft fall to you, Do Not go chasing".

Should the highest rated player on your board be a player at that position (meaning in this instance RG/C or OT/RG) then you draft him.

You think a guy like singletary could fall to round 4 after his poor 40 yard dash? He has some tiny hands AA style but is very Sproles like. Don't need to run a great 40 when you can make people miss like he does.

Anything can happen at draft time. I believe Singletary is more in line with late 3rd round to anywhere through the 4th round.

BTW, I more intrigued with Henderson than I would be with Singletary when choosing between those two solely.

There's more quantity than there exists in quality imo.

It's a very weak class for CB, coverage LB, RB, WR that fit our scheme and what we need.

Fog is happy two-fold. He got the player he was hoping would fall to us and he didn't have to fire the GM should Taylor not have been the pick after the way the board fell.

Lions have top-30 visit with FSU EDGE Brian Burns

Burns enters the pros coming off a very productive career with Florida State. In three years, Burns tallied 38.5 tackles for loss and 23.0 sacks. Though many call him undersized, he actually measure similarly (6-foot-5, 249 pounds) to Lions edge Devon Kennard (6-foot-4, 256), the man he would potentially be replacing.

BB_72; as a side-note there's this quote from one of "Pride of Detroit"
Quinn
Has never spent his first round pick on one of his 30 pre draft visits…

Interesting fact I saw by Dave Birkett.
