Dawson Knox TE, Mississippi Rebels

Reese's Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy passes along that Ole Miss TE Dawson Knox ran his first pro day 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds.
Knox did not take part in the 40 during the combine due to a reported abdominal surgery which he was recovering from at the time. His sprint of 4.57 seconds on Friday would have been good for third-best in Indianapolis among tight ends. Our issue with Knox has long been his extreme lack of production coupled with talked-up athleticism that mostly just counted as talk in our ears. It will be interesting to see how the rest of his pro day plays out, but at the very least, he has the clear footspeed.

Darnell Savage DB, Maryland Terrapins

An NFL DB coach said that Maryland S Darnell Savage is "a guy like that stands out."
"He’s a smaller guy that plays big," the evaluator said, also adding that he's super athletic. Savage (5'11/198) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.36 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine, so his pro day was just him going through positional drills instead of re-doing his tests. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline said that Savage "looked very fluid" and NFL evaluators agree. The Day 2 prospect has "several" visits with NFL teams scheduled, including one with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sean Bunting DB, Central Michigan Chippewas

The Athletic's Dane Brugler writes that Central Michigan CB Sean Bunting will likely be a top-40 selection.
This echoes Bleacher Report's Matt Miller's report from last week, so it's time to take this really seriously. Although he's not coming from a big school, Bunting (6'0/195) has the standard build of an NFL corner prospect and he has 4.42 speed to pair with it. Brugler jokingly writes that Bunting's coverage is so tight that you can argue that he runs better routes than the receivers he covers. Round 2 is now the expectation of when he'll be drafted.

Ed Oliver DL, Houston Cougars

Houston DT Ed Oliver clocked in with an official time of 4.73 seconds in the 40-yard dash during Thursday's pro day.
Oliver (6'2/281), who weighed in at six pounds lighter than his NFL Scouting Combine number (287), had an impressive pro day in front of a host of NFL scouts and decision-makers. In addition to the 40 the elite defensive line prospect posted times of 4.22 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle and 7.15 seconds in the three-cone drill.

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson DB, Florida Gators

NFL scouts are "divided" on whether Florida DB Chauncey Gardner-Johnson should play corner or safety.
Gardner-Johnson (5'11/210) "crushed it" during positional drills at the pro day, and he also slightly improved his vertical to 37 inches and his broad jump to 10-feet-3 inches. The defensive back has 17 pre-draft visits on his schedule, but Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline reports that the Arizona Cardinals are "showing a lot of interest." Gardner-Johnson may end up as a nickel cornerback depending on landing spot.

It seems to me that you didn't have a problem with D.K. Metcalf "late riser" status and some have earmarked Metcalf as a Julio Jones or Calvin Johnson type (I'm not part of those who've stated such).

Metcalf is one of the "freaks" and those guys always go high in drafts. Ansah being one of a million examples. The only reason he is a late riser is because he had an unknown neck injury. That's the ONLY reason he was ranked lower.

Taylor is no such case and there is no elite LT prospect in this draft. It looks more like a situation of a GM "talking himself into" being worthy of a top ten selection.

Metcalf is #4 on my big board ;)

3 WRs That Could Change The Offense In Washington | The Draft Network

JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Stanford
Though I don’t think Arcega-Whiteside is as dominant of an athlete as Butler is, I still like the idea of him in Washington as a reliable big man target.

Jordan Reed has been the go-to big man receiver in Washington for a while now, and though I still think he is talented enough to be a difference maker, his health and availability has been spotty for most of his career. Arcega-Whiteside would give Washington a reliable red zone target to rack up six points instead of three. His ability to use his big frame in a basketball “box out” method of bodying smaller defenders could work wonders as a Day 2 pick combined with the types of receiver they already have.

BB_72; He is another prospect I'd draft if he somehow fell to our round 3 draft slot. In a heartbeat. He is one of the most underrated WR in this draft. imo. He could be an exceptional replacement for Marvin. imo.

Yeah. I read a lot of places that he has sleeper potential.

Would you like me to add some fuel to your fire regarding OT J. Taylor ? He had 35 starts for Florida at OT and only two of those were at LT (2017 reg-season last two games of the year).

Breaking The 2019 Cornerback Class Into Roles | The Draft Network

Man Coverage - Press
The press alignment maximizes the big measurable of recent corners: length. All the rage in the recent development of the position, the press alignment is utilized to disrupt releases and accordingly break timing routes, forcing the quarterback to hold onto the football for that extra half second and helping the pass-rush arrive.

Press technique isn't always found at the college level, though. Many ideal press corners at the next level are super raw, having maximized their length and strength but lacking in the patience and foot technique (press starts from the feet!) to survive against the elite receivers of college football. As such, many ideal press corners are not Day 1 picks, but late Day 2/early Day 3, as they're more so Year 3 than Year 1 starters.

Justin Layne

Trayvon Mullen

Rock Ya-Sin

Jamel Dean

Michael Jackson

If Justin Layne falls to the 3rd he would make a lot of sense for us. Second round might be a little reach IMO but many have him going in the early 2nd. I wouldnt be too upset if we pulled the trigger there.

Rashean Melvin's contract was only 1 year I believe so we cant sleep at CB in the draft.

I'd become livid if they drafted him at any slot. He's too damn raw with his footwork and instincts. He only has two years in as a CB so he has that going for him.

This class of CB is not good at all as a whole.

I dont disagree but round 3 would be hard to pass up for me. He will be a backup for at least a year and could be more if Melvin proves his worth and gets extended.

3 Prospect Fits To Improve Chargers Offensive Line | The Draft Network

@Old Lion has got me looking into Risner even more now. Where the hell is @gandydancer when you'd prefer to have his valued opinion with OL.

Dalton Risner, Kansas State
A four-year starter in college, Risner is an easy projection to the next level where his blend of power, technique and mobility pop when studying his tape. A three-time first-team All-Big Twelve selection, Risner was named the conferences Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year for his senior campaign.

While I like him best at right tackle, Risner has the ability to play all five positions up front, offering rare versatility. Risner has been incredibly consistent throughout his career and checks so many boxes teams are looking for in offensive line prospects. Offensive linemen are rarely as “plug-and-play” as we expect them to be but Risner truly offers that potential.

Keep looking his direction, and look for to him early. His ability to inside or out will be great for somebody. 7 OL dressed on Sunday’s, that’s a helluva of a pick.

He should be gone by our second pick.

It's a good thing the LT can seal both edges.

Yeah. I really don't understand why people have him rated over Jonah. I know you said you don't care for him too much but at least he has experience and was pretty productive there as well.
I would be able to forgive them for taking Jonah and putting him at RT. Cause at least if Decker got hurt again, he could be a backup insurance policy as well.
If they took Taylor, it would make zero sense based on the fact that if Decker got hurt. We would be absolutely fugged.

He is probably the best replacement for MJ. Has the potential to be a little better.

If he makes it to round 2 I cant see how we could pass. We could trade up as well. There is also the possibilty we trade out of 8 and take him in the first a little later.
