Shurmer is suggesting this is something that would happen. I don't see it happening - and I don't see how it makes any sense. Some novelty plays - yes I see that, but not a a staple in the run game.
1) The Broncos aren't going to pay Gordon $8 million and use him as a FB. It doesn't make sense for Lindsay to block for Gordon - either - instead of a TE or Hback.
2) If they aren't going to run off the two back formation - are they going to take out a TE or WR to use both backs in the passing game?
3) Better pass protection for a downfield pass? No - not there either as an Hback and do that better in the backfield.
4) It's not going to change the defensive call if both RBs remain in and the surprise is merely who Lock hands the ball to.
One way I do see it working would be if Lindsay or Gordon motioned into the slot position out the backfield for a particular matchup advantage.
