Here's what the Lightning are reportedly offering Stamkos

I'm guessing Stamkos is looking for in and around $10mill per which Kopitar got. Ultimately looking at the highest paid players in the NHL, I think $8.5mill is a very fair first offer by Yzerman, is it one that Stamkos will sign? probably not but it's a respectable and fair offer.

I'd say 9.5 to 9.8 will be the end for this saga and stamkos will sign then

Guys, is Stamkos really worth this much? Is anyone really? But as much as I love Stamkos in Lightning colours, he still has some kind of post season glitch. Plus, he has not been up to snuff since his broken leg. Even when they use him for the shoot out, he does not try the trickery anymore, just plain Jane skate and shoot! Use your talent dammit! Let's see this every game for him to see more $$$ every game! The salaries are quite ridiculous and the more they receive the less they contribute. Callie is another example of this. His first year here, stellar. Than he got re-signed, and viagra wore off!

Whoever pays more than 8.5 for him, gets stuck.
He's not the player he used to be.

Since the leg injury he went from a super star to a good player. I'm not happy paying him 9 plus million a year unless he drastically improves! Like back to 50 goals or 60 goals.

I really don't think that he deserves what Kopitar is making. Kopitar comes to play hockey every day, not selective like Stamkos!

Personally I don't think Stamkos has lost anything in terms of his talent, his numbers have been declining but I think that's because we haven't replaced MSL who was a big reason why Stammer scored so many goals. Drouin was supposed to be the replacement for MSL, somebody who is a natural playmaker who can give Stamkos the pucks when he wants. They had success when together but Cooper saw Drouin as a liability and got moved down the lineup. Stamkos linemates have mainly consisted of complementary grinding players like Killorn & Callahan. Stamkos did see time with Filppula who does have a playmaking aspect to his game but Filppula is no MSL. Since Cooper has put Palat & Vladdy with Stamkos giving him some creative linemates Stamkos has been contributing offensively more consistently.

I agree with Todd I think Stammer signing a $9.75 mill deal per year for 8 years. I would be content with that but I wouldn't give Stammer more that $10 mill unless we win the cup and he plays well in the process.

vladdy has played the best with stammer by far in time deangelo will be our pp qb of the future and he will feed stamkos the puck. for now i have like how palat and vaddy have been playing with stamkos. so soon i expect him to sign for 9.7/8 in tampa bay long term.

I'd like to see DeAngelo sooner rather than later but he's seems at least a of year away. I would say he's 3rd in the pecking order of AHL Dmen behind Koekkoek and Witkowski who both have experience at the NHL.

Another youngster i would like to soon is Adam Erne. He's only 20 year old but I think we could use a player like him especially down the stretch and in the playoffs (if we make it). Erne is a power forward who would add a physical presence, grit and some goal scoring ability.
