it depends on the quality of the hamburger meat

if it's just the stuff you get on the meat aisle at a grocery store, or a typical fast food burger, i just have to hope the cheese and veggies can mask the flavor of the meat.

it it's higher quality meat that i ask a deli to grind, i use more minimal toppings. usually just cheese, a sauce, and a veggie like banana peppers or jalapenos.

no matter what, mayo tastes like and has the consistency of snot, and mustard looks, smells, and tastes like puke. both are grotesque, always.

Yer funny with yer mayo and mustard disdain.

Both are culinary masterpieces in their own right, goddamnit:lol:

you've got to put a nice cup type piece of lettuce under the burger, it will catch all the juices that normally destroy the bun and if you aren't getting those juices you overcooked your burger.

onion definitely. i really like mine cooked into the burger, oklahoma style.

mayo and ketchup not so much to destroy the flavor but in the right proportion makes it better.

i also take bacon and cheese.
