Najee is 23 years old.

That's really damn old for an RB just starting out to cost a 1st rounder.
Thats a good point. The Chiefs will have had 2 full seasons with Clyde Edwards Helaire before he turns 23. People talk about running backs not lasting long and at 23 you're almost guaranteed to get looking at a guy who was in his prime in college and only getting one contract in the NFL

Etienne is 22, Roundtree is 23 I will agree be better if they were 20.

4/5 years is about all ya can expect to begin with, he'll be 27/28. Ya might be ok with the very best RB available in round one, maybe.

I think those 1st Rounders should go to a player you expect to be around longer than that.

RB is just too expendable a position.

IDK RBs once they play out their rookie contracts are usually allowed to walk and move on to a different team. So you who ever can do the best on that rookie contract.

No argument from me, I totally agree, not in favor of first round RB;s at all.

@RaZon
Henry's averaged 5.12 ypc over the last 3 years. If 4.5 is great. what's that make him?

@rmilia1
If those 17 yards a game add up to 2 or 3 1st downs on 3rd n short and /or a rushing TD a game in goal to go situations. That can be significant.

No need to talk last three seasons, his career average is 5.0 which is great. That is Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, Barry Sanders stuff.

Hard to believe there are Hall of Fme RB's with a 3.9 average.

I disagree on the RBs in the 1st round argument.

If the RB is a stud three down back. I think you should take them in the 1st round.
If a RB is gonna be a main point for a team getting to the promised land. It will be in the 1st half of his career.
a RB drafted in the 1st round is 5 years. Add a franchise tag year if need be & you have 6 years. There is half of his career & for cheap.

If your offensive line is where ya want it, you have your QB, and the RB is a legit stud like Harris obviously is, ok first round it is. But, that o line is where it all starts, without one your QB gets killed, no holes to run thru and your D is constantly on the field wearing down.
