I see your avatar and title and I got to thinking about the 2 players from Miss St Univ that both played for the Rangers at 1st base (Thunder and Lightning) and was thinking it is too bad that we could not just overcome the Palmeiro drug hearing in front of congress and have a big day in his honor. I know he has not come back with anything concrete to back up his story that he did not take the steroids intentionally but there is also no proof he did plus he passed a polygraph test and what he did as a Ranger and player is incredible. He was my oldest sons favorite player as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles helped with that. I know he is in the college baseball hall of fame and I believe he is the only college player to ever win the triple crown. Both he and Will Clark had beautiful swings.
Palmeiro is one of my all time favorite Rangers.

You probably wouldn't feel that way if you had ever met him. He is easily one of the biggest egotistical jerks ever to play for the team. The lady who cleaned our house when I was young, a really sweet lady I might add, also cleaned the houses of several Rangers players who at the time lived in North Arlington. She told me that Steve Buechele and Bobby Witt couldn't have been any nicer but that Raffy was an unbelievably rude jerk. Then, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with him in person a few years later when I was waiting tables at a local restaurant while in college. Raffy came in with some blonde (wife I assume) and was seated in my section. He was incredibly rude and boorish to me the entire time for no reason whatsoever. He capped off the experience by saying to me (and I'll always remember this) "just get me the check and leave us the hell alone". I had not bothered him nor given him bad service. It was the most "I'm more important than you so I'm going to treat you like crap" moment.

Ever since my personal encounter with him, I relished when he got into trouble with steroids and Congress.

To me he's like Bonds- super talented but a complete jerk.

You hit the nail on the head. We could turn right around and tell the local media and ESPN "hey, give the Rangers the attention they deserve."

I'm excited for football, but I'm way more excited about the Rangers right now.

I swear, to right now, I have never really understood all this animosity toward the DFW area from Mosquitoville.

Maybe that's part of the problem for them.
