I am glad to see that our Ace is back to being healthy and his old self again. Great game Derek!

Absolutely.....honestly surprised he was "allowed back" for the 9th.......Maybe we learned something about Mr Banister today too, eh?

But was Holland ever our Ace?

Without Darvish? Yes.

If Holland is able to continue this trend as he is still young in the season for him and pitch like he did in those last 37 innings last year we COULD have us a debate on who the ACE is. And wouldn't that be a good thing.

I think he is currently. He probably will be until Yu gets back to his old self sometime next June. Even then it could be debatable between Derek and Yu.

Trout and Calhoun both lost fly balls in the sun today. In Weaver's last start those two came towards each other on a fly ball that should have been caught and let it drop in thinking the other one was going to catch it.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

It is possible to have more than one "Ace" on squad. Ie. Kershaw and Greinke

Not sure but if it is that close then that is a good thing. No one is going to be upset on which one of those two is considered the ACE as long as they keep pitching lights out.

Not sure but maybe they feel 3b is not where Gallo should play. I know most of us feel that way.

I'd agree. Would hate to waste his arm though. He's built nicely for a first baseman. My way too early assessment of how I see things playing out position wise for next season.

1) Choo may be playing himself into a position where the Rangers aren't looking to deal him this winter. If that's the case, Gallo is going to find it difficult to break into the outfield next season with Mazara ascending through the ranks.

2) Mazara will make a strong case to be the Rangers starting LF during ST, but will start at Round Rock as Hamilton will be the opening day LF. With that said, the second Hamilton goes down with an injury, Mazara will get the call and frankly may not let the position go.

3) Rua will get a lot of time at 3b in Round Rock. I think the organization still believes he can be a ML player, but he's just been jerked around a bit. Beltre will be our starting third baseman next season, but he will spend time on the DL and we'll need an able replacement. If the organization wants to move Gallo to 1b post Moreland, my guess is they're hoping Rua or maybe Profar can be ready to take the reigns in 2017 at third base.

4) Gallo needs some time to come around. He still hasn't gotten on track at Round Rock like we'd hoped he would, and with that in mind, I see no reason to expect that he'd be expected to break ST with the big club, and will need to show improvement at AAA next season before the club looks at giving him a spot in the lineup.

Wonder what that's all about?
I guess it is to expand the team's options for the future. Or they just simply want to get him in a few games at 1B to see if he can play more there in the future.

I just don't see him at 3b going forward.

One thing I haven't heard lately is how Gallo is doing defensively at 3B. They have played him there a good bit at AAA. I believe the last time I checked it was at least two thirds of the time. That makes me think they haven't given up on him there.

I think what Choo is doing should make them that much more willing to trade him this offseason. He may never have a higher trade value. We would have to throw in less money per year than we would later on and we might even get a decent prospect back. He is still subject to playing the way he did earlier this year and he still is the same person who disrespected the manager and gave that very poor effort on that one play a couple of months ago. I agree with what you said about him earlier this year when you said we should launch him to the moon.

Gallo bunted down the third base line for a hit against the shift tonight. Good for him.
