Coming off a 4-2 road trip, our under performers are slowly moving towards more respectable numbers, plus we have our top 3 going.

On a bad note, Karstens had a groin injury in his last rehab start. It doesnt seem serious though.

Lincoln deserves a look anyway, he was set up to fail his last start going from 1 inning to starting like that. He will get better once he gets in a routine. If he can get going, we can finally get KC in the bullpen later this month.

I almost believe. Almost.

I still think that the rotation could crap itself pretty quick. For example - bedard surgery, burnett goes to hell and mcdonald returns to 2011 form. But i dont EXPECT it. Thats a huge difference from last year. The collapse last year was laughably easy to predict. This year there seems to be some teeth to the pitching.
I also believe that marte could help us late. I think walker and mcc are real baseball players and mcc is definitely a star. Hague and jones are decent. Most of the other guys are at least competent defenders if nothing else.
One big bat. One bat other than the ghost of possibility presented by alvarez i mean. A corner outfielder or a first basemen who can rip it. Do that and then i can see the outline of a .500 team.

Yep, our rotation could fall apart, but I think we have better options this year, especially with Karstens and Morton not being out much longer. Owens is having a really good year too.


I bet Joel is out tonight, if he pitches it will be 3 in a row and 4/5, no since doing that to him imho. If Grilli pitches tonight, he will be out on Sunday. Hopefully, we can get some runs and good innings out of our ace tonight and get a win with both getting the night off.

I would like to see us use Doug Slaten more. I think the guy is nasty & has some very nice tools for this bullpen. I think Juan Cruz may be leveling off a little bit. He seems to me to be much more hit - able recently. I would like to see Slaten used more in his spot.

Either way, if Hammer or Grilli are not used much this weekend? I would like to see Doug Slaten get some run.

i agree,
cruz, even when successful early was giving up too many baserunners.
last 30 days is 3.50+ era.

let slaten, watson (much better in may/june) and hughes. cruz is 7 and resop 6 in our pen.

Not only is that a series victory for the Pirates tonight Parrot but tonight's win marks 5 straight series wins in a row, for the Bucs!

5 excellent innings of work from this Fabulous Bullpen tonight, picking up a sub par JMac. This is what good teams do!

Let's go for the sweep tomorrow. Screw It, Let's go for 1st place in the NL Central tomorrow. I LOVE IT!

Another strong outing for Burnett. I thought he had the pickoff there, and the strikeout just after that, but neither was to be. If they had been, he could have gone 8.
