Who should or will get the head coaching job?
Should: Chris Holtmann
Will: One of Eric Mussleman/Fred Hoiberg/Gregg Marshall
What’s wrong with musselman or the mayor?
Musselman would be a great get. Look what he’s doing at Nevada. Has west coast ties. He’s the guy imo
Dan Dakich said this on twitter today:
My List of guys I’m calling if I’m UCLA
1- Calipari
2- Pitino
3- Steve Kerr
4- Izzo
5- Donovan
✔
They just keep on getting this guy speak

To be fair, Hoiberg relied on transfers from other D1 Universities not JuCo transfers. That being said, traditional recruiting was not his forte. Helluva College Coach though.Hoiberg would be a bad hire, unless UCLA just wants to rely on JUCO's to carry them. Would Hoiberg even be interested? I've heard he has no interest in returning to CBB.
could see Mussleman being the guy

When Thad was all the rage you used to see him brought up like this occasionally. Seriously for anything less than Kansas, UK, or Duke it makes no sense to leave OSU. Yes UCLA is undoubtedly the better school historically but the pressure to win versus ability to win far outweigh the job.
I'm not saying he's going to leave OSU. I just think that's who UCLA should hire. And I'd still say UCLA is the better job, but it's slightly at that.
I agree Ucla is still the better gig. As would be Arizona or something similar. But yea not so much as to make most leave a place just under them when they're building something. Obviously I would put a decent amount of BIG schools on that list with OSU.
At least imo
Agreed. I just think Holtmann is really freaking good. I think he'd kill it at UCLA. But he's going to do that at OSU too, and given his Midwest/East ties, I can understand why someone like him wouldn't go out West. But that'd be my first call if I'm UCLA.
Honestly, I don't understand how you can screw up a program like UCLA.
UCLA basically recruits for itself and unlike Uconn, Louisville, and Arizona, it's located in the #1 hotbed for basketball recruits.
You're not going to perform well in the tournament every year, but some success in the regular season should be expected.

I hear ya, but kids today have no clue about nostalgia or prestige associated with a school's program history. These kids probably heard of the Titles and John Wooden but not one of them has most likely ever read any of his books.
