Eventually time always wins. He's still got a lot of great basketball in him, but he's played a lot of minutes not only in the NBA but internationally as well. It all adds up.

Are you saying Lebron is a better jump shooter than any of those 3?

I'm not saying he is better than any of those 3 jumpshooting ( I don't have the numbers in front of me and the site I used to go to which broke down shooting% by distance has stopped updating stats since the end of 2013) but point is going by the numbers, Lebron was actually than a few of those guys from 16-23 ft and also from 10-15 ft

Lebron James shooting numbers in 2012 & 2013 (don't have 2014 or this current year)

16-23 Ft
2012-39%
2013- 46%

3's
2012-36%
2013-40%
2014- 38%

Melo

16-23 ft
2012- 35%
2013- 43%

3's

2012-33%
2013- 38%
2014- 40%

Kevin Durant

16-23 ft

2012-46%
2013- 43%

3's
2012-39%
2013-42%
2014- 39%

As you can see for example here with Bron, Melo, & Durant there is not a huge dropoff at all with Lebron and any of the other 2. He has actually been a better shooter than Melo over the last 3 seasons and his numbers are in the same ballpark as Durant. As I said before if you cannot see the obvious improvements in his outside game since 2012 I have no idea what you guys been watching for the last 3+ seasons.

I don't even care for the man anymore but the ridiculous comments by some on here force me to defend him

36% from 3 is not bad at all.

The fact that you think it is shows how little you know about basketball.

Kevin Durant who most consider the best pure scorer in the league only shot higher than 36% from three 3x in his career.

Kobe only shot higher than 36% from three two times in his career.

Melo only shot higher than 36% four times in his career.

Let's stop acting like 36% from 3 is a bad thing. Unless you're some 3 point shooting specialist like Kyle Korver, JJ Redick, or etc 36% from 3 is solid

WHo said he's one of the best shooters of all time? What I did say is that his perimeter shooting numbers are in the same ball park and in some cases better than the Durant & Melo who are both considered as better shooter than Lebron over the last 3 years.

Can you read?

how much of that is due to shot volume. example Durant shot the 3 ball 491 times last year. Anthony 415. and LeBron and 306. so your comparing the guy when he shot near 200 shots less than Durant. then you add in his need to play with multiple all stars. he just doesn't shoot as many as them.

Bk, do those stats show you how difficult the shot was? Or was it at the end of the shot clock? Or who was sticking the player? Or if the player was wide open? My point is, stats don't tell you the whole story.

A stat might tell you that Lebron shoots a better percentage than Kobe, but every basketball fan know Kobe is a better jump shooter.

Yeah I'm sure teams were leaving Lebron James the best player in the world wide open....

Whoever you think is a better jump shooter is your opinion. My point of posting those numbers weren't to debate who's a better jump shooter between Lebron, Melo, and Durant. It was to simply prove that LBJ jump shot has clearly improved since 2012 because he saw the way Dallas defended him in the 2011 finals which led to him working all summer on his jumpshot and post game as well. As I said before if anyone on here can't see that LBJ outside game has significantly improved over the last 3+ years, I honestly have no idea what the hell you been watching.

Durant and Melo choose to shoot the 3 ball at that rate. The Heat coaching staff always focus on quality over quanitity when it came to Lebron and Wade which is why those guys shot over 50% yearly when they played together.

This has nothing do with anything. You'd be right if Lebron's volume was like 50 shots vs 100s for someone else, but their volume is enough to where the comparison has merit. You're really grasping at straws with that.

Actually, they have stats for all of those thanks to SportsVU tracking cameras. You can look them up yourself on NBA.com. There's loads to choose from but Lebron rates pretty well in all those.

Bk is right. Lebron is a much better shooter nowadays than he gets credit for.

The whole "LeBron can't shoot" thing is is a leftover sentiment from his early years with the Cavs. There is really no defending that stance today.

I knew what your point was and I agree Lebron shot has got wayy better over the years. I just wanted to see if you thought Lebron was a better shooter than those 3.
