Latest Crazy Mariota Rumor: Three-way trade involving Titans, SD's Philip Rivers

I think this is all media BS, but the latest rumor involving Marcus Mariota to the Eagles is that it could happen via a three-way trade. Titans get Phillip Rivers, Chargers get Bradford and 20, and Eagles get #2 for Mariota.

Why the Chargers would do this, I have zero idea. But people need stuff to gossip about I guess.

Who knows? Anything is possible, and I think that Chip will get MM somehow. It must be a good thing, as I don't think that there is any other QB that is capable of being a franchise QB for the Birds. I guess that with any remaining picks we will have, at least the secondary will be better,and we will be a playoff team. Hope so.

I'd feel a lot better about Chip and this offseason if that trade went down, that's for sure. But it seems like a ridiculous idea.

Not really. Rivers says he'd rather not go to LA.I If the Bolts plan on moving getting anything would be wise. 20 and Bradford is good value.

That trade would change the draft pick owed to St. Louis right? Since Bradford wouldn't play for the Eagles they wouldn't owe the second rounder? (I just wonder if the Eagles made it specifically, "play for the Eagles" or if it was a generic "play x games" type of thing).

Peter King wrote that he thinks the Rivers trade rumors are crazy, but that they appear to be real. Not exactly sure why the Chargers would need the Eagles involved here though. The Chargers, if they were willing, could likely trade for #2 and take Mariota themselves.

That is the scenario that King explores. He makes no mention of the Eagles.

Mariota to the Chargers makes sense on a few levels--he is from Hawaii and probably would love to play for a west coast team to be closer to home. And he would give the Chargers a potential face of the franchise for years to come in LA.

Bradford to the Chargers makes no sense, unless someone in San Diego is not sure about Mariota and really has wood for Bradford.

The Mariota interest is bullshit. He's a fit for a couple of offenses (us and at most one other) but they're probably much more interested in Hundley or someone later. I think all the Mariota interest is fake to hope Chip trades up and their guy slides.

If Rivers changes teams and Chip doesn't make a play for him then he's a moron. I like Bradford, but Rivers would be a true prize. No other possibly available QB gives us a better chance to win a Super Bowl in the next 4 years than Rivers (maybe Winston, but that's not happening).

why (insert trade) this makes perfect sense for (insert team) is not a rumor... it's a proposal or idea for people to talk about. A legitimate rumor originates with one of the actual parties contacting the other for a reaction to the idea, whether they like the idea or not. I don't see this as anything someone on this board could have started. The only reason I even opened this thread was because iggloo started it. I think it's BS also and iggloo could start such rumors just as reliably.

Amen. The time between the end of season, Combine, and Draft is unbearable now. Free agency has been dead for weeks now. I feel like I have no idea who will be on my team at this point.

I don't see why the 2 teams want Bradford to be included in a deal. The Titans get Rivers, and the Chargers get Mariota. Unless they need the Eagles to kick in some draft picks, why do they need us? I would like MM, but this doesn't make sense to me.

They don't need us, but if Mariota is a C prospect and you can fool Chip Kelly into giving you talent equivalent to an A prospect then why not do it?

The Chargers can get their QB of the future in a future year (likely a better prospect too) and have any combination of an extra 1st rounder, a beastly unblockable young Dlineman just entering his prime, a playmaking LB or DB, a much needed Olineman, and more picks or other talented players... That would be a huge windfall for the Chargers and enable them to move into a post-Rivers future with a lot of extra resources to play with.
