I want to make sure I'm clear. If they decide to keep moss for one more year, I'm fine with that. But at his age and position in the WR corps, keeping him affects not only the WR depth chart, but has a ripple affect in other ares of the team.

If they do decide to cut him, they owe it to him to do it early (like the first cut) so he has a chance to catch on with another team if he is wishes. If he doesn't, then they should honor him at halftime of a game for his unselfish service to the team during a very difficult time.

Ok, that's one, even tough I don't remember what proven talent we cut. Who else did we keep over proven talent? Honestly I can't think of anyone. For everyone you can name that we cut prematurely, I can probably name one that we hung onto too long (fletcher, Cooley, Jamal brown..).

You realize that moss is 35 and will be 5th or 6th on the WR depth chart even if we keep him, right? Moss has been a great Redskin and deserves every curtesy we can afford. But he is not the player he was. This doesn't mean he can't contribute sparingly this year, but there is nothing after this year. So, are you saying You would rather keep moss than, say Silas redd, or chase minnifield, or Compton, or Akeem Davis, or josh lerebius/Adam gettis?

Dude, we kept Paul over Cooley. I think Moss gives us more than holding onto Robinson who has not been more than a speed threat. I think his influence on the young guys (and in particular D Jacks) is worth more than Adam Gettis as the 3rd OT. Redd should be practice squad material and god help us if we carry 5 RBs because we are afraid Redd wont clear waivers.

How many times have we kept future "talent" that didnt pan out at the expense of proven production even if limited?? Does the name Niles Paul ring a bell??

dude cooley was thru . injured and slow .

you keep moss if you think a couple of things

his 20 catches get us to the playoffs at the expense of losing a young talent

you believe you can draft another young talent or you can stash one on the PS (ross)

that moss' veteran leadership is indispensable

my stance is if no one beats him out then he should stay because i think we can find another robinson if needs be (or a taller red zone type ) :suds:

I agree. If he earns his position through production in preseason, then you keep him. But we don't just keep him because he has been a great redskin. He needs to add value.

Dad is also right, Cooley was cooked. His last year he was a waste of a roster space. He even admits it himself.

Sorry but I happen to think some times you do keep a guy around even if his skills have declined because of his input in other areas. Im not a believer in keeping a limited young player over experience simply because the guy is younger. Robinson has not really shown anything other than speed and the deep ball. He doesnt contribute on special teams, and he isnt going to be an influence in the locker room or on the side lines. Basically you are saying he is younger there fore he should make the roster unless Moss clearly outperforms him. Where as I happen to think roster spots SHOULD go to established players unless they are clearly outperformed by the younger player. And as cooked as Cooley was, Niles Paul got the roster spot and did exactly what with it?? His biggest claim to fame is he plays special teams. The only reason he is a TE at all is because he couldnt hack it as a WR and Shanahan couldnt admit he made a mistake with picking him.

You don't keep a veteran over youth if:

the veteran is overpriced for the value he brings...IE...Cooley...and now Moss.

moss isnt overpriced . he is at the vet min and only has a 65,000 guarantee

this preseason shark , robby has shown other aspects of his game

now did he beat out moss ? that is the 64,000 dollar question

Where did I ever say keep the younger player because he is younger. I said keep the player that earns the position. Shark, you need to go back and read what I have posted. Not sure what the hard on is for Moss, but he, like everyone else, needs to earn his position.

As fro Niles Paul, I never once mentioned him or defended him. You brought him up. Barking up the wrong tree, dude.

j_y... you must understand, that while I quote a single person. Some times points do tend to bleed. Its not a personal attack on your stance. But generally the topics do tend to be joined. I do agree that Moss and every other player SHOULD earn their spot. I just also happen to think a guy who has been here should get an edge over a rookie. I know some will disagree.

also I do have a tendency to answer two or more peoples points in one post without quoting every one. I cant type, sue me. :D

if the staff feels moss is better at this time i tend to think we can replace robinson

now if robinson wins the job (and he is making the case too ) then i will praise a great career moss had
