What's the going rate for a terrible running back who is still young and quick?

What did Scott McClouhgan slip in Baalke's drink in 2012? :L

He could be a potential repacement for Darren Sproles down in the Big Easy...

I wonder if Baalke is still sending out mass emails to the league when he's shopping a player

About a year too late.

Probably true.
I think we killed a lot of his value last year by not playing him. He did well in the pre-season his rookie year and looked really good running the read-option with Kaep early on. He also looked good when he got late season playing time when Hunter was hurt, but last year he barely saw the field.

I still think James has a lot of potential in the NFL, but he was never a good fit for us with Hunter already on the roster.

I would be thrilled if they sent James and a 3rd for a mid 2nd rounder.

I hope you are joking. Hard to sense sarcasm on boards...

That is just a little less that what we got for Alex (high and mid 2). I cannot imaging getting more than a 5 for him.

Man, that '12 draft tured out epic-bad.

Well, the equation would be: a mid 2nd minus a 3rd is equivalent to what round pick? If a mid-2nd minus a 3rd = a fifth rounder, the proposed would make sense when you add LMJ to the 3rd rounder.

I think, and this is just a guess, that you read it as a third and mid-2nd. It was just a mid-2nd for a third and LMJ.

agree year too late. I like the idea of him and a 3rd to get a 2nd. or him and a 4th for a 3rd.

i think the fourth and him for a third is more realistic though. I hope maybe the eagles and his old coach would be willing to give something for him, but i doubt it after trading for sproles. Maybe the saints to replace sproles though.

Ugh. I never liked that pick, particularly because Hunter looked so good as a rookie. James did alright in the playoffs when Hunter went down, but his ball security was always poor, and his fumble in the SB was one of several crushing plays for us.

Good. Though I saw Darrin Sproules in him when he first got drafted he has shown that he cannot play the Pro game; or at least the type of game that Harbaugh wants to play. Might as well get rid of him if we cannot use him.

I do think James gets a somewhat bad rap as a punt returner. I was nervous almost every time he caught the ball - and with good reason as that was always a major question mark for him - but when he did catch the ball, he was actually quite effective generating positive yards. Of course, reliability is the #1 thing I look for in a punt returner, and James certainly did not excel at that.

Nice, so we'll be drafting Gilbert and he'll be the new punt returner. Or ODB or Josh Huff or Dri Archer or....
