I hear you LALakerboy, Chillipepper, Silas, Hangman. I am amazed they keep some of these players around. Granted, they spent themselves into a corner but to keep three guys around who simply are riding the Lakers train to get paid is beyond me. I call Gasol, Gasbag because he always looks tired and frustrated and now old and slow and out of gas. Nash is a complete waste of money and time and the same goes for Blake. Young has been reading way too many headlines of himself. And now we know this little experiment with Don'tknowi is leading down the same road. The dude is overrated and doesn't know the basics of coaching. Wins may change the standings, but this guy will never win a championship and I think Kobe knows it.

I felt the game was mismanaged during the last few minutes, personally. And you guys are correct about Nash. Time to hang 'em up, dude...

The SPURS are the one team that can play many different ways.
They have personnel to go big or small.....inside or out....fast or slow...starters or bench...
They don't excel at one particular style, but they can play many styles reasonably well.

They love to run up and down in those 120-115 games.
But, they can also play 80-75 games comfortably as well.

The Spurs realized early on they did not have the legs to make it a running game.
So they decided to make the game a smothering defensive affair.

I don't think D'Antoni was as comfortable playing that game as the Spurs were last night.

It was ugly at times, but I was proud of their relentless defense.

The team that took the Heat the distance showed why they belong. Execution and no bonehead plays in the end got them the W. That comes from experience in playing together. Core Spurs team has been playing together for years and it shows.
Lakers on the other hand, we hung tough till last 2 minutes. Make our FT's we likely end up on top. Make the right plays at the end, we win the game. And let me say what I predicted in last exhibition game that Farmar should be our starter over Nash -- it should come sooner than we all believed.
Still trying to find our identity and rotations which, at some point, coach has to put to bed. Guys have to know their roles in the end. It's obvious that Kaman belongs but Shawne doesn't(at least as a starter). Why does Hill play only in the 4th qtr - his energy and hustle plays don't show up in stats but he can affect it positively throughout the game....plenty of question marks. The only positives is that we don't show lackadaisical attitude as last years' team. As a young team though they can let down and that must be avoided. As a few of them said post-game interviews, they didn't match the energy level in this game as vs. Clips. We'll see what team shows up vs. Hawks on Sunday.

Seems some of my fellow Lakers fans need to dial it down a notch or 2 with the doom and gloom. As BAM pointed out, this was the team that took the Heat to 7 games last season and that should have won the title in 6.

This is a Lakers team that is filled with new players who are not only learning to play together, but also learning a new system for most of them as well. The Spurs are the defending Western Conference Champs and returned most of their team intact. I was impressed that the Lakers not only stayed in the game, but had a real shot to win.

I agree but they also make valid points on how Dantoni mismanaged the game. Hill should have had more minutes and Nash looks like he is done. Even with those factors I am impressed that we hung in there and with us having a younger team these kinds of losses will happen. It blows but im not wanting this team to tank.

D'Antoni is still working out his rotations. It's 3 games into the season. This is how it's going to be for awhile. We won't know what this team is going to be like until we are at least 35-40 games in and even that will depend on how soon Kobe comes back.

Kobe coming back will obviously be huge, but it's also going to require another adjustment. As for Nash and Pau. Give it time, they'll both be fine.

Besides, it could be worse. We could be the Celtics!!

Yeah I understand what you guys are saying and I know Antoni is trying out different rotations. I guess I have to be a little more patient but it pisses me off Hill isnt getting a lot of minutes.

Patience is definitely something we Lakers fans haven't had to have much of over the years. Part of being fans of a franchise that generally considers non-title seasons to be failures.

It isn't so much a case of doom and gloom. I really enjoy watching these guys because they have some spunk and hustle. But, I have little if any expectation of this team, this year putting together a winning season. Call it like you will, but this year is not going to be a typical Lakers year.

We had more talent last year but was terrible to watch. With this squad we may not win a lot of games but I think this current squad would be more fun to watch just from an effort point of view. I cant mail it in on my team this early in the season.

Who said anything about mailing it in. After 50+ years of watching the lakers, mailing it in is a non-issue. We shall see if they can rebound against the Hawks tonight and get to .500.

I think we can all agree that this team isn't winning anything this year, but that they will not tank. We also know that once he returns, Kobe will expect to contend for a title (the deluded confidence that makes the great ones great) and will not allow tanking.

This team is already more fun to watch than last years more talented "contenders"!!
