Defenseman Brian Campbell of the Florida Panthers, right wing Jordan Eberle of the Edmonton Oilers and left wing Matt Moulson of the New York Islanders are the three finalists for the 2011-12 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, awarded “to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability,” the National Hockey League announced today.

It amazes me that Nick Lidstrom has never won this. Is there a more gentlemanly player in the NHL?

I don't think that being afraid of physical contact is the same as 'gentlemanly behavior'; therefore, I request that Brian Campbell be removed from contention.

As an Islanders fan I'm happy for Moulson, but two of the three players nominated play on 2 of the bottom four teams in the league. Sorry, but I have a problem with that. They could have nominated Spezza or Alfredsson from Ottawa. What about the Sedin's?
