A 5 year/$230M extension on top of his remaining 2 year/$35.192M contract, (IE 7 year/$265.2M with the 1st 4 years fully guaranteed), would be a good deal for the Cardinals. Replacing the existing 2 years with a 5 year/$230M deal would NOT be good for the team.

Holy shit... The Browns really F'd up the market for everybody... Was hoping that contract would be an outlier of sorts.

???

The fully guaranteed wasn't as weird as people think it was. Rodgers full $150m contract was guaranteed too. And the AAV was right in line with all the other deals around the league. In fact it was less AAV than Rodgers deal which was $50m. The $43-45m amount everyone is talking about is a baseline set last offseason by the Mahomes and Allen deal (Murray will get more than that and he should....it's a year later and that is how NFL contracts work now).

If Matt Stafford is signing for $40m in his mid 30's, then Murray is EASILY worth a little bit more annually in his mid 20's.

It really is just us getting used to these crazy ass numbers.

Not referring to the AAV... That is definitely "in line"... It's the practical guaranteed money at signing thats harder to stomach. Yes, Rodgers' contract set the tone here & still reigns supreme on the AAV, but him being closer to retirement made that more instrumental.

Allen's deal was 33% guaranteed. $150m/$258.03m
Mahomes's mega 10-yr deal was only like 30% guaranteed. $142m/$450m.

I wouldn't think Kyler gets more than those guarantees. But who knows. I didn't think anyone would guarantee Watson as much as the Browns did lol.
