Congrats to Fuller! I love it when I get to hear our opponents celebrating guys like Ryan Williams and Rock Carmichael being off in the NFL, only to face the harsh reality of new young guys like David Wilson and Kyle Fuller taking their place.

VT has had at least one DB drafted in every NFL draft since 1998. Hosley, Fuller, next...

well deserved.. he had a very strong game.. and something that doesn't show up on the stat sheet was the huge hit he levied

pretty much the standard for vt football.. flowers comes in as the premier corner, outshine by macho.. macho comes in as the premier corner, outshined by virgirl.. virgil by carmichael, carmichael by hosley.. hosley by fuller? so far so good.

(obviously helps when the other team doesn't throw to the guy that comes in as the premier corner)

Fuller by Bonner, Bonner by Jarrett, Jarret by Farrow, Farrow by Manning, Manning by Tookes, Tookes by another Fuller...ha ha

I was watching he Redskins game yesterday with my girlfriend and she loves football and really knowsthw game. We watch a ton together. She is an Eagles fan :(, but oh well. Anyway, she made a comment to me after a particularly good open field tackle by Hall. She said, your boys may get beat every now and them but I have never seen any other cornerbacks tackle as well as the Hokie ones do. I told her that we isolate them and use gem in the run. If they can't tackle soundly, they learn it or sit. It is cool to hear from someone on the outside who knows football like she does.

She has seen a lot of Hall, Flowers and Macho in the NFL and Rock, Virgil, Hosley and Fuller in college. O need to find some video of Midget, Charlton, Green and Williams. We can leave out Ike Whitaker ;).

Personally I always felt Flowers was better than Macho. I think a lot of people got caught up in it because Macho A) Had a knack for returning INTs even though his coverage wasn't as good as Flowers B) He has a kickass name.

I'm sure this has been posted elsewhere...

What strikes me is the 37' vertical. While that's incredible to me (probably around an 11' vert) isn't there someone on the team will like a 40' or 44' vert? What was Fuller's vertical from spring training?

He was also a 5 star r_____ rated recruit out of H.S., and Flowers was... 2? 3? That stigma stays in peoples' heads sometimes.

They did one on Tyrod last year that was pretty cool too. I can't find it on youtube though.

Marcus Davis is the one you are thinking of and he is 6'4". He should be our fade target every time.

As far as the Flowers/Macho discussion, Flowers was a better cover corner. Macho I feel could have been a really good safety as well (what he played in the NFL some). Macho was a stud RB in high school as well so that may be why he was such a good returner once he got the ball in his hands. (His high school [Highland Springs] is in the same district as mine is/was. His Sr year our RB ran for 350 yards against his team only to be out done by is 500ish. No kidding) That same year Highland Springs played Varina as 1 and 2 for the district title. Varina had Davon Morgan at QB and Safety and Brandon Minor (went to Michigan but was hampered by injuries) at RB. Game was played in a downpoor and destroyed Varina's field. They played their playoff game at our field because theirs was unplayable.

you can definitely count me amongst the ones that got caught up in macho's returns.. that and, i could be wrong here, he had more interceptions in '07 which was the only year they played together (again, if i'm remembering correctly)

its hard to focus on more who's covering better from the north endzone, but picks and TDs are pretty noticeable haha

i think their careers pretty much define flowers being better than macho.. flowers has had a much bigger impact in the NFL than macho has

Macho in the Clemson game (forget exactly what year, but if you're a Hokie you know it) a few seasons back was one of my favorite moments as a Hokie...

... it may have had a lot to do with the Manhattan Alumni Association working out a $40 all-you-can-drink deal at a bar in downtown... AWESOME atmosphere and RIDICULOUSLY wasted. Kept thinking I had to get my money's worth when I kept ordering shots.

Pour House is the name of that bar. They still do it every game. An hour before kickoff to 0:00

edit: and the game you are referring to was 2007 I believe.

Yep... one of the most drunk times in public. Awesome spot. I think they split it with the UGA Alumni and we played them at the end of the year in the GD Peach/Chicken/Whatever Bowl... the game that Sean Glennon will never live down.

Interesting. I was first team all district center for Lee-Davis, and this describes our game against them. Brandon R. had an outstanding game, but yes macho's 595 all purpose yards really killed it. What highschool did you go to Nick?

Also, Flowers was much better than Macho, both on and off the field. He should have went to school as a specialist, not a corner.
