LA Times has reported that the number Kovy wants is 10 mil a year for 10-12 years. The Kings think that is not reasonable. I don't think NJ can pay him near that either
agreed on the thought process....
but i'm now becoming optomistic for a return to NJ, something i thought would never happen, but with almost a day and a half gone past i would have thought he'd be wearing an LA sweater already.
i still doubt that he's going to be a Devil... but my hope is building i mean outside of the KHL, the Kings, and the Devils... who else realistically can sign him? the Leafs said they don't want to, and Edmonton probably doesn't have the money even though they have the cap space
all i know is this waiting game is killing me.
I've learned over the years never to doubt the Lou. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in New Jersey. If he wants a long expensive contract, I think the Kings will be out of the running (usually not Lombardi's style.....especially with raises to young kids coming up.....cough.....Doughty.....cough). That would make the Devils and the KHL all the more intriguing to him. Maybe him and Nabby will play for Omsk? ;-)
I hope he enjoy those bus rides through Siberia in the middle of February...
You just hate Edmonton don't you Dash.....never cut them any slack.

NJ doesn't have any space.
They need 5 more guys to fill the roster, and have $4mill to do it with.
Did I read that right? they paid 37 year old Johan Hedburg $1.5 million to play the 7 games that Brodeur won't?
I think New Jersey needs a change in philosophy more than they need Kovalchuk.
I'm thinking he may just do a "Hossa" - Sign a one year deal with a contending team and take his chances again next July.
