It would make sense from a money standpoint. I heard lubominski is staying there. and the thinking is that his salary will continue to next year where he would get all of his 5.4 million not a pro rated payment.


This was a 12millon dollar season for Kovy.

He'll be here. Darren Dreger is now saying that it's highly unlikely that the KHL would dishonor the agreement they have with the NHL in terms not poaching players and honoring contracts. It would also be a nightmare for Russia if pros weren't involved in the next olympics. I'm not worried about this one.

Malkin and Ovechkin were there ASAP as well. If he's keeping himself in teh best possible playing shape I'm fine with it. If he jerks us around and reports late, then F@$k him.

The panic switch makes for much more interesting headlines. I don't see this as a very big deal at all. I really don't see him choosing to stay there over coming back to us. This seems way more like a media driven drama than a realistic scenario.

Also indications that the Russian players wanted to stay for KHL all star game, but were denied. Lou said he never spoke with Kovy regarding staying. We'll see.

i will say this...kovalchuk has put the devils on the map in publicity!

im sure he will be back and until he doesnt report to camp i have no reason to believe he wont be back. as long as he doesnt get hurt im fine with him playing in the all star game. heck those people gave him a job and supported him why not return that favor?


i will say this i do not even remotely see the appeal of playing in the khl. its supposedly run by russian mob money (russians are 10000000x worse then italian mafia) or so hollywood would lead me to believe. what kind of lifestyle is over there? flying in planes built in the 60's? ever watch any of the russian car cams?
