You really are new to basketball, aren't you?

I'm not new to basketball Hammer. You bring up titles that came up during the Jerry Buss years. Let me know when Jim Buss gets them back.

I still stick by to what I said. I was never concerned about the Lakers this season. That's no disrespect to what they've done in the last 30 years. But you're kidding yourself if you thought that they were going to be a legit title contender this season with or without Kobe.

I honestly don't know how I can break it down any simpler.

Banners that were won at different eras. The Lakers and Celtics have the most banners by far than any other franchise, but they're not exactly contenders for the Finals this year. I guess I still need to worry about the Bulls since they have 6 championship banners from the 90's that they can sport.

Trust me, long after Lebron and Wade have retired; If the Heat are a mediocre bunch, I won't be that asshole that keeps bringing the Big 3 years up to the teams that are actually contending for titles.

It's the consistency on how the Lakers have played that give us "bragging rights". Straight up dominated the 80s and 2000s.

I see the heat becoming the 'light beer' version on the 90s Bulls - dominant at the time but over a decade later and nobody cares anymore.

You can't rationalize with them no matter how hard you try...in one way you can't blame them either because, outside Boston and to some degree Spurs, they have not known what it's like to be a perennial contender spanning the 30+ years(minus '90's).

They know not what they're saying which makes it kind of sad on one end but oh so rewarding for us Lakers fans. And it's not as if we're a distant memory seeing Kobe being handed the trophy by GOAT in 2010 only 3 years ago. How many other teams would trade places in a f'g heartbeat.

Considering that the Lakers lost consistently in the Finals (6x) in the 60's, shouldn't that cancel out one the dominating era's you posted?

Yeah, it is easy is for everyone else to see that their career is finished but difficult for said player to see it and his fans.

Yeah, the great players and their fans always think they have "one more great year" in them. Ironically, at least in Kobe's case, some of this has probably been brought on by the fact that Kobe has always "answered the bell" and played through injuries that most players would not.

I can't help but wonder if he would still be going through these injuries now, if he had chosen to sit out a little more in the past.

this is the sad part of a great athletes career where they slowly wear down until they no longer become recognizable except for the name on the back of the jersey. it is always the blindly loyal fans who see it way to late. been there. his name was marino.

For me, it was Muhammad Ali vs. Larry Holmes. I just knew that Ali had one more great fight in him. Turned out, he didn't.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the last time the Knicks won a title, not a single currently active NBA player was even born.

What's that have to do with the question I asked?

Since you brought it up though, the last time the Knicks won a title they beat the Lakers.

Talk trash?

All I did was ask you a question that you have yet to answer.

The five 80's titles won somewhat makes up for the 6 title losses in the 60's. Kind of evens it out when you're talking about era's.

With your logic we might as well cancel out the Knicks' two titles with their pathetic attempts in the 50s and 90s
