I can honestly say that every time Kobe Bryant was on the floor I was rooting for his team to lose.

But that's just a testament to how great of a player he was ... that he kicked our @ss every time.

Unbelievably sad.

Cannot think of a more shocking celebrity death in my lifetime at the moment...

RIP Kobe...

I was at game 3 the NBA finals with Detroit. The crowd kept telling the R word and he was shook. Lakers held to 68 flipping points.

Like I said if he did anything even borderline he wasn't some cold blooded dude. That's the only time I can remember him being shook.

This is a great story but the man was far from "GOAT human being". He did have a past.

But, not a future.

So, it's not really surprising that people feel this way with this being such a emotionally charged situation.

Kobe was like a religion in Los Angeles.

Took a second, sat down and cried when that became apparent.

Then felt worse again as I watched Tom Izzo inform Cassius Winston, live on air, in order to stop him from learning mid post game interview. Winston's younger brother took his own life several months ago.

Exactly. Just because you may have done silly things in your younger days mean you can't be a good human? Ridiculous post
Unnecessary with his death being so fresh.

Now this is getting carried away. This is a great story but the man was far from "GOAT human being". He did have a past.

Silly things?

All I'm saying is let's not start calling him GOAT human being. I'll nominate Mother Teresa for that.

And you think right now is the time to be critical of how someone chooses to express their feelings?

Yep, I didnt particular like him later in his career but most of that was bc he always won and he was so great. I actually idiolized Kobe before Lebron came along. He was my favorite player when I was much younger. Outside shooting buzzer beaters 3...2..1. I wouldnt say MJ’s name, it was Kobe. If Lebron never comes along from my hometown...Kobe would still be my favorite player and a Lakers fan, well maybe lol.

Every death is important bc it’s a loss to their loved ones and the people that knew that person but when you have an athlete like Kobe that impacted so many kids growing up wanting to be like him and gave you a reason to watch sports or play the game of basketball...it just means more to you individually. Just like the people that never watch sports...just death is just like any other person. But us sports fans and NBA fans...it just isnt the same.

I wasn't a huge Kobe fan but I respected the fuck outta his game and his competitive nature.

He almost became a Duke Blue Devil when he came out of high school.

Yep. He was a huge fan of Coach K. He always said that if he had gone to college it would have been Duke. Apparently, it was actually a tough call for him.

In fact, he tried to get the Lakers to hire Coach K, I believe after the first time Phil retired.
