I think Dan and Bruce would be THRILLED to be able to honestly say, we made him a solid offer and he just wanted out. So he left us no choice but to make the move we did to get the QB we did.

At this point, I honestly don't give a shit one way or the other beyond getting another (or a few) SB trophies in DC. If he's here fine....if he's gone fine. I prepared myself for the latter a couple of years ago. I still think that he's gone no matter what. If my position makes me a "hater" or "ABC'er" from the perspective of others right now, then I'll gladly trade those labels for all of the shit that will be posted here when he's wearing different colors.

Sorry man, I'm just too old for that shit. (Setting myself up because of some attachment to this team and the stupid shit they do)

You and I agree on this, however, I could be wrong here, you still believe that it's NOT a foregone conclusion that he's already made this decision to leave. Whereas, I've believed that he decided to leave right after the failed attempts to sign and retag him, twice now.

I honestly believed that there was a chance after the first time (tag), but after the second tag, combined with his current age and desire to get a LTD, I don't think that there's anything that Allen/Snyder can do to change his mind outside of the unheard of offer well north of a base starting the 28 - 34 million range. Even then, I still think that Kirk will want to go. Why? because money isn't an issue for him anymore. He's stated on numerous occasions that he wants to feel wanted. That opportunity is now in the past, any offer that he gets, will be cloaked in the thought that they are doing so because they "have to" NOT because they really want to.
I do think that there still is a possibility for him to sign a LTD with us, but Allen needs to act fast as soon as the season is over. As I said in an earlier post, if Allen is interested in keeping KC, the love needs to start now. Both internally and externally. I am concerned that we are no seeing that. Allen needs to present a big ole fat contract offer that is market value based within days of the season being over. There is no excuse fro this not to happen. Allen typically waits until the very end before offering a deal. This cannot happen this time.

All good points and honestly I hope that you are right, but let me ask, assuming you're right about there still being a possibility to get Kirk signed, and your position that Bruce needs to act now in terms of setting the stage and showing the love internally and externally, how close to the end of season do you believe that it's too late to begin this? Are we currently in that too late zone? In your opinion how much past the end of the season does Allen have to offer that fat contract? When in your opinion will it be too late to offer said contract? Thanks!

The moment we are allowed to offer a contract, we should have the contract already made out and hand it to him. Basically, we should have a name change at the top from Stafford to Cousins.

BTW: The division is as we speak, nearly filled with pretty good QB's, and I think that there's something to their reluctance to sign the guy related to not having the best of that group working here. So let me ask you (and the posters here) Do you think that perceptually, having the 3rd best QB in the division with the Giants likely being in position to push him to last (again perceptually) sits well with Dan and Bruce?

Dak Prescott

3rd best? What games have you been watching? I will give you Wentz, but he is possibly the NFL MVP so being 2nd best to him is no big deal. Manning has been terrible so he is out of the conversation. Have you watched Prescott lately? Take a look at the link w/ his game logs.

In 4 of his last 5 games he has had 0 TDs & has had under 200 yds passing & subpar QB ratings. Most of this occurred when he lost his best O Lineman & biggest weapon (Elliott). No doubt this makes it difficult (& shows that just about no QB can do it on his own), but Cousins has lost a lot more weapons this season & still appears to do relatively well.

Objectively I would place the NFC-E QB order as Wentz, Cousins, Prescott & Manning (distant 4th). Prescott had a great rookie year & is a very good QB but benefits more from the talent around him than Cousins. We will see moving fwd. I would have to believe that Allen/Snyder also believe that Cousins is at least 2nd best in NFC-E (if not then they are really more F'ed up than I imagine).

Gosh, Sty, I don’t know. The love needs to start now. My gut tells me that the contract needs to be within days of the season end. For no other reason than it reinforces how much the team wants KC to stay. But if it’s another lowball offer, then that has the adverse affect. There is no reason why the FO shouldn’t already have the contract outlined internally. Barring injury or a complete meltdown, nothing is going to change from now to the seasons end. No new contracts will be signed that might affect it. So there is no reason to wait. If you want him, pay the man and move onto other pressing personnel issues such as Brown, Long, Breeland, etc., as well as the draft. Our whole draft strategy changes if we believe KC will not be here. Another major reason why you get this done early. Don’t let this issue dominate your offseason. Oh, and whatever you do, dont announce that the tag is in play, even if it is. If Allen hasn’t figured out by now the effect that had on the last 2 negotiations, he should be fired for plain stupidity.

Did you see, read and understand the word "perceptually" in my post or is this just another knee jerk reaction based upon a imagined Kirk Cousins slight. Hell, did you even read where I indicated that the NYG's were in position to draft Mannings replacement. Gawd!! I hope that you realize that the whole piece was about how I envisioned Dan and Bruce are looking at this and NOT myself. Fuck it put my ass on your ignore list.

Well, I'll be the first to admit that my instincts were wrong if there's movement soon and that big fat contract offer on the table soon after the season ends. While instinctively, I'm trusting my own position, I really hope like hell that your way beats the shit out of my instincts. We'll see!!

I understand that completely and alluded to it in my post. See my last pt about Allen/Snyder - I totally addressed this pt. Like I said if they perceive Cousins to not be at least 2nd best QB in NFC-E then they are totally F'ed up & I would question whether they are truly committed to the success of this team (which is certainly very possibly given their dysfunctional nature). Chill out - if you take this as a slight towards you then my apologies. HTTR.

I’m not so sure you instincts are wrong. Because I see no evidence of the FO , including the Owner, have started the love fest. Allen suffers from the “I’m the smartest guy in the room” syndrome. I won’t be surprised if he plays his little games once again and blows the negotiations again. Meaning he will end up paying a kings ransom to tag him one last time. I have no faith in Allen so a fuck up is quite possible.

Agree. I hope that we are all totally wrong in this respect, and the FO has seen the light & realizes that they need to stop playing games, act like adults, stop worrying about who gets credit & just get this damn thing done already. We will see.

KC sucks. Bruce Allen is God...I think I just threw up a little.

KC has proven to be in the conversation with top QBs in the league. At worst, he is a top ten QB. At best he is top three.
Probably. Which means that he is going to be paid the top of his position, if even for only a brief period. I just hope Bruce, the brain child, knows this.

I can't wait to watch Dean shit his pants when this happens.

first you said we are the Browns without KC now we are a 2 win team. Interesting. If KC wants to be here he would accept a fair offer. I already explained what a fair offer was. If he turns down those fair offers to get 5mg more in FA then yes fans will call him greedy.
i conceded 2 wins maybe because some questioned browns as if that mattered

I expect Ryan to get more. TBH though, I prefer KC to Ryan.
