I don't think his play down the stretch has any bearing. I think the Skins know what he is,, for good or for bad. I believe Cousins has already made up his mind to leave... but hope I'm wrong. The only thing that might keep him here is the thought of another few years of building a team with someone... cause lets face it,,, teams that need QB's are usually pretty bad. Yea, I don't think his play matters anymore... for either party.

Well, I can think of a real good reason for him to leave, a contract offer nowhere close to what he wants. Make no mistake, Kirk wants a LTD. He'll take another 28 - 34 million tag, but if he's convinced that Washington won't meet his terms and that the deal he wants lies elsewhere........He's G.O.N.E!!!

Since this is an Ian report, I can gleefully ignore it as he never gets Skins info accurately.

I think Cuz is leaning towards coming back to DC. The only potential tomahawk impaled in someone's neck could be how Allen Allen/Snyder deal with the situation.

I heard or thought I heard that there isn't a single Redskins player in the top 30 far as rushing or receiving go. That's not true though. With his big night JC was able to crack the top 25 coming in at 24th in reception.

Looking at the top QB stats though and Kirk is all up in that bitch.

6th in pass attempts
2nd in pass completions
8th in comp %
2nd in passing yards
5th in YPA yards per attempt
6th in TD passes (my biggest gripe about Cuz from last year) At present he's on pace for about 27, 28 TD passes
10th in TD %
He's only thrown 6 INTs or less INTs than 19 other QBs at present. He's on pace for 8 INTs for the season
He hasl the lowest INT %, 1.6%, among ALL starters.
His QB rating of 101.1 is good 7th best among QBs.

Kirk's gonna look at this year as a what might have been had we stayed just half ass decent healthy. And what the team could accomplish next year with better health and more talent (hopefully) after the draft and FA.

Hopefully Allen/Snyder look at this year in a similar fashion. Regardless how one decides to look at this season though. I don't see how Cuz doesn't come up smelling clean as a newborn baby's just washed bottom, while looking better than new money. Or put another way......Kirk Cousins is the tits.

Best thing for us was SF signing Grap and Goff now the guy in LA.

49ers traded for him but he is not under contract after this season as of now and they haven't given him any playing time maybe they are holding him as trade bait

How do you trade someone you don’t have under contract?

he is a free agent after this season if they don't sign him longterm or place a tag on him

Possibility that the Niners are being smart on this one. They maintain Graps rights until free agency 2018 starts. So they can either

1. Sign him long term before free agency starts
2. Tag him
3. Tag him and deal his rights to another team.

Either way not playing him might be smart because they get to see if he fits in their system, and other teams DONT have a real clue as to what they are going to do with him

Agreed

Beyond that, there are other factors involved in not playing him right now.

1. It takes some time to learn the new system, its terminology and such.

2. Timing and familiarity cannot be synced up with other players.

3. Draft position, their season is lost right now, if dude comes in a ball out for a few meaningless games he jeopardizes that position.

4. Patience with respect to pressure in starting him from higher ups. (Something totally missing here BTW) I'm certain that they already know what Garp is all about, what he can and cannot do, and have factored that into any long range plans they have vs any short term ones.

5. They get to keep the league wide accepted idea that he is a quality QB not starting because he was behind Brady. No point in giving that up or confirming it this late into the season. Either of these scenarios gives valuable information to others with respect to moves they will be making in the off-season.

I am pretty sure they already factored in the Kyle Shanahan effect as well. The Niners are struggling all over. BUt even with little or no defense, and a distinct lack of talent on the offensive side of the ball, Shanahan has managed to have them move the ball. I seriously think, if Grap is even half the QB every one assumes he is, Shanahan can fashion an offense that he can excel in.

Exactly, they are 1-9 on the season, going 1-15 or 7-9 (worse and best case) with him doesn't serve them long term. They already know that KS can devise something good with him, otherwise they don't trade for him. I believe that Lynch is looking long term....this year is a wash, and they begin again next season with Garp already penciled in as starter, primed with extensive playbook study, and off-season work.

Few things that bode well with KC returning and taking long term deal that the Skins offer (which will be fair this time)

. He idolizes Thomas Brady who has remained with one team.
. He has built a relationship with Gruden.
. He has the respect of his teammates as being a leader. (he would have to earn it all over again with another)
. He's the big man on campus here.
. He can win here if team healthy.
. Knows he is the bonafied starter here.
. Has multiple records here and will earn a spot in the ring regardless of playoff success.

but it all comes down to money in the end.

Really?? How do you know that and what exactly has this to do with anything especially business?

. He has built a relationship with Gruden.

So?? I hope that you know the relationship is completely built upon his being paid here. It wouldn't exist otherwise.

.He has the respect of his teammates as being a leader. (he would have to earn it all over again with another)

NFL players don't just build their resumes' for current teams, their reputations and on/off field accomplishments follow them. Kirk's a pretty good QB, it's known league wide, that doesn't change because he changes uniform colors.

. He's the big man on campus here.

WTF??? What campus? Ashburn??? Hardly!! The DMV/ Landover?? Definitely NOT!!

. He can win here if team healthy.

True, but only to this extent....he can be a part of a winning team.

. Knows he is the bonafied starter here.

As opposed to what??? being a bon-a-fied starter elsewhere?? Kirk has earned his reputation around the NFL.

. Has multiple records here and will earn a spot in the ring regardless of playoff success.

To be sure there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with setting team records, in fact doing so shows that there is some form of progression from generation to generation. Unfortunately, for us such progressions are few and far between at the position as is exhibited with this (excepting Jurgensen) stellar list of previous record holders.

1. Sonny Jurgensen who last suited up in 1970.

2. Jay Schroeder

3. Mark Rypien

4. Jason Campbell

Idiots.....he has nothing left to prove.

He didn't give up an 18 point lead to the Saints.
