Shark, fine let him go if he has another 10 sack season. He is not worth 10-12 mil per season. He is getting older and is injury prone. He still has to play hard this season b/c his future is still up in the air. If he tanks it then he will get low ball offers from us or other teams. Why would he tank the season????

Drafting Attachou is great insurance. You cant argue that.

Dean... IM not saying he will tank the season. I am saying that if you are on a one year deal you do approach the game differently. In the back of your head you always know that if I get a season ending injury, im likely done. That has got to have an effect on a guy, especially on a guy who as you say is getting older and consider injury prone. I dontthink Attachou is an insurance policy but more of an indicator that they are planning to move on. Draft him and al signs of a long term deal for Rak come off the table.

But Rak still has to perform well to get a big deal from another team. YOu never know they could sign RAK in next years off season and let Kerrigan go. Drafting Attachou gives the TEAM options.

I don't think Borland is there in the 3rd.

Rak Performed well last year. If not then franchising him was a dumb move. Either he performed well, or we just franchised an average OLB. And I dont see Kerrigan being in the same price range as Rak reportedly wants to be, so as I said if they draft AT&T, to me it would be a clear sign they plan to move away from Rak.

Kerrigan has out performed Rak in some years. why not? They franchised him b/c it makes our team better and we can go in difference directions in the draft. If they let him go then OLB becomes a huge need.

Dean... the whole argument has been Rak is not an "elite" player. So we franchised what many have said is an average OLB. With $11 million to play with I think we could have found or brought in another average OLB for half that. Drafting Att says they are planning to move away from one of our OLBs. Of the two Rak is older and has injury history. Considering how ademant you have been on them taking an OT, I cant see how you would disagree that drafting an OLB over an OT is a clear sign they plan to move away from Rak after this season no matter how well he performs.

I want an OT but I think you can get an OT in the 3rd round. The whole argument is by drafting attachou at 34 gives the team options with Rak and Kerrigan. It gives the team insurance. I have no problem with Attachou and Flemming draft. Yes I also puts doubts on our current OLb's but that is a good thing.

How the heck did we get from Borland to Att? Have to agree with Shark...If in theory we are shooting down "WR" position and that seems stupid....Then OLB is the same thing. Especially with Brandon Jenkins and Rob Jackson. You can work on developing Jenkinks. We have a high 3rd and WR is unbelievably deep...Borland will be there. I will say he didn't appear to be easily fooled by the pistol formation and options...and made a ton of plays in the backfield. Looks better the Skov.

Again I dont think it gives us options so much as pre determines a direction. If Rak and Kerrigan were both signed beyond this year, I would consider it an options type move, as in we have the option to replace them because we are already grooming a replacement. But when both are technically free agents next year, thats a move to replace some one.

One could argue that if you look at the total impact they both have had (not just sacks), Kerrigan has outperformed Rak almost every year.

I just wouldn't be shocked if attachou is the pick at 34 unlike like some people.

I will be shocked if they pick anything other than an OT actually. Not sure an OLB is the best pick at 34 as a 5th OLB serves about as much use as the 4th WR many have railed against. So if its not a OT, I could see a S, CB or ILB before I see them taking OLB, WR or another position.

I don't think it is sends the wrong message picking Attachou with 34. Don't think it is a good move. I am leaning CB or OL.
